FabSugar UK has been front and centre watching all of the action at Graduate Fashion Week. I've been oggling the runways and have noticed a trend amongst these up and coming designers. Besides having their models sport the blue steel pout, three key schools opted for pulled back hair to ensure that their clothing gets all of the attention it deserves.

Sneaky me got to take a peek backstage at hair and makeup headquarters of the Avsh Alom Gur Fashion Show last week. Whilst the busy team from Toni & Guy were putting the finishing touches on the models hair, I caught up with head makeup artist Michael Gray.
The inspiration behind this look was edgy with a soft, girly and pretty side.

On Sunday evening at Vauxhall Fashion Scout, Victim clothing designer Mei Hui Liu put on her fashion show. The clothing was a mix of ecclectic outfits using vintage-style fabrics and a blend of bright and mute colours. However, the part that I liked best was the unique makeup.

One of the collections that I really liked from London Fashion Week, was Noir/Bllack Noir. Everything was a gothic black and white with the exception of one strapless, flowy navy, almost Angelina Jolie-inspired dress. The makeup was edgy and rich with a focus on dark eyes, a contoured face and uber-pale lips.

At the Nina Ricci show at Paris Fashion Week last night, Olivier Theyskens sent out a collection that was full of volume and layers, elliptical shapes and lingerie elements. There was a definite nod to the Victorian-Edwardian era too, with high-neck dresses, whilst satin lapels and slim trousers had an equestrian motif. The beauty look was strong and stunning with dark lips, pale skin and bold brows.

Swathes of chiffon and artful draping made for a feminine yet bold collection for La Perla, at Milan Fashion Week. Head to toe colours ranging from black to white, cream, aqua and lilac were given subtly frou frou touches with lace, ruffled hems and lots of asymmetric necklines. The hair was tousled and full, while makeup was gleaming and natural.

There was a definite femme fatale mood at Gucci's Spring/Summer 2009 show in Milan. Frida Giannini didn't put a foot wrong with asymmetric cuts, leafy prints and rich-girl-on-safari taupe creations. Fab US has plenty to say about the clothes, while I was more concerned with some of the most beautiful hair and makeup looks I've seen on the runway for a while now.

On Friday, Emma Bell showed her 2009 Spring collection which was inspired by cartoons. The clothing was designed in exaggerated proportions in bright neon colours with hints of sequins for an extremist, fantasy club-land feel.
The models wore body paint in addition to coloured tights and retro, 1940's styled hair.

I couldn't have been happier about the way that London Fashion Week ended. The last show (and in my opinion, one of the best) that I went to see was Inbar Spector . The clothing was sexy and fresh and mostly black with a few surprises in baby blue and white.

The Penkov girl is a Barbarella Sci-Fi fantasy this season. At the Spring/Summer 2009 London Fashion Week show, the girls wore white structured chiffon shifts with high gladiator sandals and swingy hair. Ultra-soft fabrics and sophisticated cuts were combined with traditional craftsmanship for a collection that cleverly integrated hard white porcelain accessories made into decorative body armour.
