Preen are one of my favourite design brands. The London based duo present their quirky-yet-wearable designs in New York and I am always excited to see their collection. This Autumn their collection included a dark blue sequined dress which clearly impressed both Natalie Imbruglia and Chloe Sevigny.

Last week Peaches revealed the inspiration behind her capsule collection for PPQ. The line is based on her own personal style which she described as "between very folk, Sixties hippy" and "grunge". Today the long-awaited collection hits Selfridges and below are some images of her modeling her own designs.

Feathers were an unusual addition to the catwalk for Autumn 2008. Adding texture to an ensemble they appeared on the catwalk at Burberry and Alexander McQueen to name a few. Despite sounding slightly gross, they actually work well and the trend has since been embraced by the High Street.

Trend cycles are getting shorter and shorter but the military trend seems to have come back round quicker than ever. Just a few years ago (in 2005) we were all wearing cropped military jackets as seen on the catwalk at Balenciaga, and now the style returns. For Autumn 2008 military detailing appeared on the catwalk at Alexander McQueen, Temperley London and Colette Dinnigan.

It is a well known fact of fashion, that where Miuccia Prada leads, the rest of us follow.
It was she who revitalised the trend for heavy, boiled wool, paired stilettos with socks, and has such an open distaste for what she perceives as constrictions in fashion, you could almost credit her with kick starting the current love affair with mixing it up – think vintage garments worn with ultra-modern pieces, as well as a clashing of colours and textures.
So when Mrs Prada showed elegantly grown-up lace in her autumn/winter 2008 collection, the fashion world took note.

Wow it really is winter isn't it? I can't seem to leave the house without at least five tops and two pairs of socks, not to mention countless layers on my legs! My current uniform (minus the layers for warmth) is a big jumper dress, leggings and over the knee boots.
