While matte may be back, as far as the catwalk is concerned – most of us want healthy, shiny hair with lots of bounce and vitality.
Blondes always have more fun in the summer, as the sun highlights and reflects their hair making it stand out and look extra desirable. If you're brunette or red head however, it's best to play up the shine, for sexy, healthy looking locks.

As a firm believer in gradual tanners – especially those of the budget variety – I was intrigued by the buzz around Olay Complete Care Everyday Sunshine Body Moisturiser, (£5.99).
It won Best Body Self Tanner, in the Cosmopolitan Beauty Awards, and recently every other person I compliment on their sun kissed glow, has told me it's actually Olay.
Despite being quite pale, I accidentally bought the 'deep sun-kissed' colour, so was a little apprehensive when I realised that this may not be all that natural looking.

The idea of seeing a product in my bathroom cabinet with the word 'wrinkle' on it, makes me feel a little uneasy. Although, as it's from Clarins, I am slightly more forgiving.
The very long-named, Sun Wrinkle Control Cream High Protection For Sun-Sensitive Skin, (£15.50), is a facial sunscreen, with an SPF 30.

Hair trends are one thing – from the polished dreadlocks and pirate plaits on the catwalks, to retro styles, like Victoria Beckham's Audrey Hepburn do – but what we all really crave is effortlessly sexy hair, that looks like it's naturally gorgeous – not like we've had to try too hard to re-create it.
Cue the covetable, grown-up version of beach hair. Textured, yet glossy and voluminous, it's the sort of laidback, tousled look that Kates Moss, Middleton and Beckinsale, are often snapped with.

I know it's more fashionable to be pale, but come summer I can't help but want to be bronzed. As I'm trying to curb my unhealthy (and ageing) sunbathing habit, I think it's time to reach for the bottle.
Celebrity favourite fake tan, St Tropez, has just been nominated as a ‘Brand to Watch’ in the forthcoming Superbrands 2008/09 awards.

Confession time: Despite my Beauty Editor disguise, somewhere deep down, there is still a sun worshipper just waiting to get out. I know, I know... it's terrible for the skin and I lecture everyone else about sitting in the shade and wearing a sun hat, but the girl just can't help it!

Despite being nagged to, most of us still don't wear sunscreen on a daily basis in the city. Just because you're not actually sunbathing doesn't mean that you aren't at risk from harmful UVA and UVB rays. As a former sunshine addict, I have to remind myself that the sun is the primary cause of wrinkles and other signs of ageing, such as dark under-eye circles and a general lack of radiance.

Fake tan is one product where I generally believe that splashing out for a more expensive brand is definitely worth the money. But summer in the city is all about taking it easy, and looking groomed with minimal effort – so the new crop of gradual fake tans on the high-street are perfect for creating a light wash of colour that looks healthy and youthful.
Johnson's Holiday Skin rocked the nation when it appeared, a few years back, as the first budget gradual self-tanner.

The City star Olivia Palermo gave us a lesson in Summer workwear yesterday when she was spotted in New York. Whatever you may think of her on the show, you can't deny that this is a hot look for a warm day in the office. She works an androgynous suit, softened with a pussy-bow blouse, tortoise shell sunglasses and an elegant Hermes bag.
