Kate Moss the New Face (and Body) of St. Tropez

Kate Moss has solidified yet another beauty deal, signing on as the new face - and, erm ... body - of St. Tropez. The British self-tanning brand has been well-known for tanning models before the catwalk and giving celebrities their red carpet glow. Kate has been using the products from the start, so this partnership is an easy fit. "Kate epitomizes St.Tropez's naturally glamorous approach to self-tanning and is a longtime advocate of the brand," Michelle Feeney, CEO of PZ Cussons Beauty, said. "Not only is she beautiful, but she has this amazing attitude. St.Tropez is about confidence." Kate already has a slew of beauty deals, ranging from cosmetics with Rimmel London to her more recent hair contract with Kérastase. Her résumé as a spokeswoman also includes iconic fashion houses like Saint Laurent and Dior, plus her own fragrance. You can't beat that beauty pedigree!

You can get the same tan from the campaign shots using the St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse (£20.50) and (£20.50) to contour the body. So when you do have to bare it all, you can do it in style à la Kate.

Apparently Women Look Their Oldest at 3.30pm On A Wednesday

If you feel like you're lacking energy and your face and hair feel quite flat, it's probably that time again - yep, 3:30 on a Wednesday. According to a recent study done by the self tanning brand St. Tropez who took a sample of British females this January, women specifically show their stress at this time of the day on this day of the week making them look and feel older. Diet is a big contributor, and as sugar levels drop in the afternoons, sweet snacks tend to take the place of nutritious foods which can be detrimental to your skin. Also, the effects of a party-filled weekend won't rear their head until mid-week. Nichola Joss from St. Tropez says,

"Studies show that stress accelerates the ageing process, that molecules in our body are responsive to our psyche. If women are stressed, and consume excess sugar it can show on their faces and in many cases, make them look older. Further to this, the lack of sleep that women report on a Monday does not bode well for how their skin will look on Wednesday. The visible effects of a lack of sleep can take 48 hours to show on the face, so if many women sleep badly on Monday it’s no surprise they look their oldest on Wednesday. For maximum anti-ageing benefits it’s essential that women get 7-8 hours’ sleep a night."

However, it is quite a nice surprise to find out that women look their youngest on Fridays - so watchout weekend, here come the ladies! When do you feel like you look the most tired?

Step 1: Jessie has been using St.Tropez Naturals Radiance Self Tan for Face (£21) (which has been specifically designed for sensitive skin types) in preparation for the Glamour bash to build an understated glow for the red carpet.
Step 2: As her dress is pretty revealing, I applied a full base coat of St.Tropez Wash Off Mousse (£15.50) to ensure her skin looked totally flawless from head to toe.
Step 3: To finish, I ran a slick of St.Tropez Shimmer Stick (£13.25) down her shins and arms to give a glossy, polished finish which completed the full look.

Millie Mackintosh is one busy bee, as she's signed up to be yet another brand ambassador, this time for St Tropez. This week, the Made in Chelsea star and Manuka Doctor ambassador has been named the face of St Tropez's Spraycation Summer tour. Millie will be touring the country giving out safe tanning advice, after launching the campaign at Westfield White City on June 15. She said: "As a big fan of the brand and of self-tanning, I’m very excited to take on the role of brand ambassador this summer." David Koma Spring 2012

Clothes: Hold onto your seats, because this clothing collection, hair, makeup and nails are on a whole new level. Up and coming designer David Koma spoke to be about an hour before his Spring 2012 runway show saying,

"My inspiration came from Polynesian tribes. The clothes are very futuristic and very modern. I wanted to take the skin art element from the tribes and develop them into prints to create a second skin. I was also inspired by Peter Janson sculptures and unusual movement. The iridescent in the clothing represents movement and the way that light changes everything."

Hair: Kenna, creative director for ghd also talks about how the models are channeling a futuristic tribe of girls whose hair represents the positive and negative paneling in David's clothes. The front is a simple, shiny arrow whilst the back is more complex. He achieved this look by sectioning hair into symmetric panels and binding them in the corners with twine elastic. Next, he connected all six of the panels into one ponytail. As a finishing touch, he straightened the ends and applied Final Fix Hairspray all over for hold and shine.

Makeup: Mel Arter was the main woman behind the team of MAC artists on hand. Again, since there was such a strong tribal theme in clothing, she wanted to emulate this style in the makeup, Mel said, "Think superhuman with lots of reflection." MAC Face and Body Foundation was used on the skin to keep it fresh and Luna Cream Colour Base was patted on the high cheekbone and nose as highlighter. Brows and lashes were left bare, but eyelids were coated in Clear Lip Glass to the brow and then blue reflective glitter was gently placed on top of the lash line. Fluidline Eyeliner in Waveline was drawn in the inner corner of the eyes and lastly, concealer was dabbed on the lips for a clean, muted look.

Nails: Marion Newman was the creative force behind these ultracool nails for Minx. Marion told me that she used devorè as her inspiration. "Devorè", she explained, "is a pattern in the fabric that looks burnt in. So nails are interpreting the devorè with a clear edge and a clear design with white etching that goes on top. Every dress has blockcolour in it (yellow, pink, blue), so exactly the same thing goes into the nails. Underneath is colour (to match the colour dress that the model is wearing) and then the devorè goes over."

Skin: Nichola Joss painted all of the models to a beautiful pale bronze iridescence, using St Tropez Wash-Off Tan followed by buffing Silver Rose Illuminator all over for a radiant finish.

Roksanda Ilincic Spring 2012

The inspiration for the clothing and beauty style at Roksanda Ilincic today was '90s grunge, but in a more magazine grunge kind of way as opposed to dirty-street grunge. The collection consisted of bold shapes and bright colours with gorgeous fabrics and flattering cuts.

Peachy makeup was used by Lucia Pica for MAC starting with St. Tropez Natural Radiance on the skin as a base with a bit of concealer mixed in with balm for a creamy base. Then, MAC PRO Chromacake was used on the cheeks for a slight flush and Coffee Eye Pencil lined the eyes without any mascara. Brows were also important for definition and were filled in with Fling or Lingering Eye Brow Pencil, and this same pencil was used to draw on some fun and youthful freckles. Lips were lined in Oak Lip Pencil and a bit of shimmer was added to the cheekbone for an ultimate finishing touch glow.

Skin was also shown some special love. Backstage, Nichola Joss from St. Tropez was busy creating a luxe tan using Wash-Off Tan to even the skin tone. Then she pat on Illuminator and buffed it out with a mitt. Hair on the other hand, was slightly more complex. Marc Trinder, creative manager for Charles Worthington, took his cue from 1950s Balenciaga ads, and instead of going for an all-out luminous and strong silhouette, he went the opposite way and offset the look with something more undone. He said, "Think Kurt Cobain and Kate Moss in her Johnny Depp days where hair is controlled but healthy, slept on but unfinished." He achieved this look by spraying Another Day Reactive Spray through the midlengths to the roots and then finger combing it through. Then, he added Front Row High Gloss Serum to the lengths and ends to create stringy separation. Next, he divided hair into three sections and raked it into a low ponytail. Using clear bands to secure the ponytail, he removed the bands before the show started to put that finishing touch on the slept-on hair that was once up but has now been let down.

The last (but not least) part of this beauty story ends with Sophy Robson moisturising the models hands before buffing their nails to a glossy finish. Check out some of my backstage and runway shots of the show here!

Erdem Spring 2012

This season, the Erdem girl had a change of heart. Whilst in February, she was scorned and angry, she's now a jet-setter in the mood for love. The makeup, done by Andrew Gallimore for MAC, has a sexy and girly soft focus where nothing is too defined. The face was prepped with Face and Body Foundation and a bit of concealer where needed. Cheeks were tinted with Tendertones in Hot and Saucy (a new product due out next Spring) to create a slight blush and radiance. Lips were stained, not painted, in red and then a touch of red pigment was layered gently over the top. Balm was used on the eyelids for a glossy effect and lashes were coated with Plush Lash Mascara in Plush Black.

Hair, was created to "look like she belongs in the South of France where the women are chic, architectural, mature, and womanly" said Charles Worthington. He pulled it into a midlength ponytail and sprayed it at the root for lift and then tonged the lengths with a thick barrel, as not to make it look too done or pageant like.

Skin was also paid special attention at this show. St Tropez was there to add a whisper of colour to the body before rubbing on a light blue illuminator. This brand new product still does not have a name; however, it won't be called Smurfette, despite all the backstage jokes.
