Unsurprisingly, the ankle boot was a firm fixture in the street style of London Fashion Week, but plenty of fashionistas chose to make a feature of what they were wearing inside their booties too. Socks of contrasting shades brought a pop of colour to Fearne Cotton's outfit on Tuesday, when the Radio 1 DJ's pink hosiery peeked out from her buckle tan shoes. The trend extended to the front rows of LFW too, with British model Laura Bailey showing a flash of grey over her black boots at the Christopher Kane show on Monday. More intriguing still was when the look arrived not only in Los Angeles, where temperatures are much warmer than here in the chilly Autumnal UK, but also on the red carpet, on Busy Philipps' ankles at the End of Watch premiere. Tell me: will you be making a feature of your socks this Autumn?

I have just spotted these tattered socks (£11.29) over at Free People which got me wondering if the trend has gone too far. I'm sure we all have a few pairs of worn out socks in our collection, but do they really make a fashion statement? Are these socks freaky, or fabulous?
Miu Miu have embraced the look with these embellished socks (£245) which could be worn pulled up with a knee length skirt. What do you think of these statement socks?
Shoes with visible socks used to be one of the oldest fashion faux-pas in the book (even worse was socks and sandals). Recent seasons, however, have brought about change which challenges this and cutesy socks with shoes have become a quirky fashion habit. Do you wear socks with shoes?
Today is Earth Day around the globe as we celebrate all things ethical and consider making our wardrobes a little bit more eco-friendly. What better place to start than your socks? You could opt for organic socks but wouldn't it be more interesting to hire a Granny to knit a pair for you?! Swiss-based site Net Granny has a whole host of Grannys just waiting to knit a pair for you.
Each pair costs €27.50, it's got to be better than 5 for £10 sweat shop socks, right?
