Her Secret Lover
Dr. Hasnat Khan is the subject of the new Vanity Fair article titled The Grandmother Prince George Never Knew: Revisiting Diana and the True Love of Her Life. The Pakistani heart surgeon dated Diana between 1995 and 1997. The article claims that she wanted to marry the doctor and considered moving to Pakistan. It quotes Diana, reading: "'Everybody sells me out,' Diana told a friend the summer of her death. 'Hasnat is the one person who will never sell me out.'" According to the piece, Hasnat's conservative family, as well as his distaste for the spotlight sabotaged the relationship. It also implies that Diana's infamous relationship with Dodi Fayed was designed to make Hasnat, the man she truly loved, jealous. Vanity Fair also covered the topic in 2007 with an excerpt from Tina Brown's book The Diana Chronicles. And the clandestine relationship is examined in the upcoming film Diana, starting Naomi Watts.
The Would-Be Grandmother
With the birth of Prince William's son, much sentimental attention has turned to Princess Diana. For example, Kate's choice of a postpartum polka-dot dress brought back the memory of Diana wearing a similar print while leaving the hospital with Prince William. Former acquaintances recently have been quoted in the papers as saying Diana would have made a wonderful grandmother, and there is constant speculation that Prince William will follow his mother's hands-on parenting example. Considering Diana's work with children is a major part of her legacy, it's natural her memory is being evoked upon the birth of her first grandchild.
Yesterday afternoon, The Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge left their comfort zone at St. Mary's Hospital to give the world a glimpse of their Royal bundle of joy. Their first son was born on the 22nd of July and weighed eight pounds, six ounces which is just amazing considering Kate's petite frame. But what I love the most about these photos is that both William's mother and his wife chose a polta dot print for the reveal of their princes. Kate's happens to be a bespoke blue crêpe de chine dress by Jenny Packham, whilst Diana's was a green frock with a white collar. Take a peek at this slideshow for a few more photos that compare these milestone moments in the royal family.
Kate Middleton and Prince William introduced their newborn son to the world today! The couple made their first public postbaby appearance outside of London's St. Mary's Hospital, the same health center where William was born in June 1982. His mother, Princess Diana, then 20 years old, appeared on the steps to present her first son to a crowd of excited onlookers. Back then, though, there were only two photographers, compared to Kate's hundreds today. It seems as though Kate took care to honor Diana with her big moment; she sported a blue polka-dot Jenny Packham dress for the event, similar to Diana's green dotted frock, and even swaddled the little prince in a white crocheted blanket like the one William was wrapped in as a newborn.
What do you think of Kate's postbaby tribute to the late Princess Diana?
Not your average royal, Princess Diana spent her days as a doting mother and humble humanitarian — all while looking impeccably chic. Long before enviable fashion plate Kate Middleton rose to prominence, Diana reigned supreme in all things grace and glamour by exuding endless amounts of charisma — it's no wonder she was dubbed "The People's Princess." Her perfectly tailored dresses and statement-making coats were exquisite in their own right, but it was Princess Di's colossal collection of fascinators that took her timeless style to new heights. From bow-detailed creations to polished pill box hats to ornate plumed toppers, she knew that creating illustrious ensembles could be accomplished at the drop of a hat.
Today would mark Princess Diana's 52nd birthday, and in honour of the British beauty, we are celebrating her eternal style with a look back at some of her most fabulous toppers.
Want to see if Naomi Watts can pull off playing Princess Diana? The Oscar-nominated actress takes on the royal role in the upcoming biopic Diana, and the first teaser shows a hint of footage, but no dialogue yet. The movie is set to follow her from 1995 to her tragic death in 1997. It will focus on her relationship with Dr. Hasnat Khan (Naveen Andrews) after her divorce from Charles, her humanitarian works, and her campaign against landmines.
It's interesting to see Watts as Diana, not just because of their physical resemblance, but because I really think she's going to be able to pull off Diana's presence. Hopefully we'll hear Watts speak in the next trailer, plus a bit more about the story, but for now I'll settle for watching this on repeat. The movie comes out in the US on Nov. 1, but be sure to catch the teaser after the jump.
If you had to take a trip down memory lane and choose the worst hairstyle of all time, what would it be? Perhaps you'd pick the mid 1980s where hairspray and high fringe was in fashion? Or, how about the classic mullet when long in the back and short in the front was all the rage? Personally, I was never a fan of the pixie cut or the bowl cut, but man did I rock the side ponytail and the permanent wave. Take a look at these eight slides and leave a comment with some of your personal hair horror stories!

A selection of Princess Diana's dresses were unveiled at the Diana: Glimpses Of A Modern Princess exhibition preview at Kensington Palace yesterday. The beautiful pieces show the late Princess of Wales' style over the years, from classic cocktail frocks to formal gowns. Catherine Walker and Gianni Versace are amongst the designers whose work is included. They go on display when the London palace reopens to the public on March 26 after a £12 million renovation. Take a look at the five outfits and tell me which is your favourite.
