Late last year I reported on the return of military jackets. Since then, everyone from Beyonce Knowles to Erin O'Connor has worked the trend and I am particularly loving it over pretty Summer dresses. Have you joined in?

Trend cycles are getting shorter and shorter but the military trend seems to have come back round quicker than ever. Just a few years ago (in 2005) we were all wearing cropped military jackets as seen on the catwalk at Balenciaga, and now the style returns. For Autumn 2008 military detailing appeared on the catwalk at Alexander McQueen, Temperley London and Colette Dinnigan.

Autumn/Winter sees the return of classic British looks, such as tartan, at D&G and House of Holland, military styling at Ralph Lauren and Alexander McQueen and country house chic at Daks and Carolina Herrera.
Think silk head scarves, tweed and long, leather gloves, as in Paul Smith's country house-inspired collection.

London's Freemason hall was well and truly rocked on Friday afternoon as US label Prophetik launched in the UK. Designed by poet and ex-musician Jeff Garner the collection was made entirely from sustainable fabrics and dyed using vegetables! There was a civil war theme to the pieces which were made from organic cotton, corduroy, hemp, reused silk and greenspun (a fabric created from recycled bottles).

The Autumn 2010 shows kicked off in London this morning with Paul Costelloe's collection. The Irish designer began with plenty of metallics in bronze shades and jacquard fabrics. There were high waists and big full knee length skirts as he played with dimension.

Military jackets have been making a comeback since last winter when Alexander McQueen and Balmain featured the style on the catwalk. The trend is back for Autumn and bigger than ever as pieces appear on the High Street channeling the look.
Coats is a key way to indulge in this style and make a statement.

They've decided to do it again to sell over 250,000 items dating from 1900 onwards.

Stella McCartney's first ever childrenswear collection landed in Gap stores across the globe earlier this month and has already been so successful that they've snapped her up for another.
The British designer who had previously had a sell-out womenswear collaboration with H&M, created on trend yet practical items for kids which adults wanted for themselves. The best selling item from the line was a military jacket for boys.
