Trend Alert: Minimal Makeup

Bin the blush girls! John Galliano may have sent bold makeup extravaganzas down the runway at the weekend, but elsewhere there's a rival trend emerging: Minimalism. The Autumn shows, have been filled with bare, fresh faced looks using subtle makeup touches. Makeup at Stella McCartney and Emmanuel Ungaro was girly and natural. At Balmain, makeup artist Tom Pecheux created an understated natural look with nude shades. It was a similar vibe at Dries Van Noten where models wore barely-there makeup.

The trend started as far back as the New York's shows. At The Row, makeup artist Aaron de Mey for Lancôme worked a "noncosmetics looking" style for the fresh faced models. London rocked it too, with both Matthew Williamson, Julien Macdonald and Burberry Prorsum projecting an effortless "no makeup" aesthetic. I was so excited to hear that Matthew Williamson would be sticking around in London for another season. The British designer presented his Autumn collection as part of London Fashion Week. Fab Flash: LFW Autumn '10 Schedule Announced

2009 is not yet over, but we're already looking to Autumn 2010 as the schedule for February's London Fashion Week has been unveiled.

We already knew that Burberry were staying in town for another season after Christopher Bailey announced it at the British Fashion Awards, but it's not the only brand sticking around.

Matthew Williamson and Jonathan Saunders are both on the schedule along with Sass & Bide, Pringle of Scotland and Antonio Berardi. This is such great news for London which is really making a name for itself as a key fashion capital.

There will also be presentations for Alice Temperley's new diffusion line – Alice by Temperley, Twenty8Twelve, Mulberry and Orla Kiely. As usual, BellaSugar UK and I will be there to bring you the most up to date coverage. That definitely gives us something to look forward to in 2010.

Biggest Headline of 2009: London Fashion Week's 25th Anniversary

One of the biggest stories in British fashion in 2009 was London celebrating 25 years as a fashion capital. The week has faced a lot of pressure in recent years as it lost some its biggest names and New York threatened to overlap with it. Fortunately, some of the biggest names in the industry, like Erin O'Connor and Naomi Campbell, came together with Sarah Brown and Boris Johnson to help rescue it. The 25th Anniversary was an exciting week that had BellaSugar UK and I running all over the capital to bring you all the gossip. Here is a quick photo round-up of some of the key moments.

Found: Serena van der Woodsen's Beaded Dress

The new season of Gossip Girl has begun on ITV2 as our favourite Upper East Siders get to grips with college life. Following an eventful Summer, Serena decided to defer her place at Browns to stick around in the city hanging out with Blair, Chuck and Dan. In this week's episode, her relationship with Carter was under scrutiny, but she didn't let that effect her style! She spent a Summer's day in the city showing off her pins in this gorgeous zip front dress (£1,085) by Matthew Williamson. She teamed it with blue suede Zara sandals and a studded handbag by Treesje. Stylish People Party at the Serpentine

The Serpentine gallery in London's Hyde Park held it's annual Summer party as some of London's most glamorous folk gathered together for a few glasses of champagne! Amongst the party goers were many models including Jacquetta Wheeler, Erin O'Connor and Lily Donaldson along with classic faces Jo Wood and Bianca Jagger. Fab Flash: Matthew Williamson Joins the London Party

There is more exciting news for London Fashion Week this morning as the fashion showcase prepares to celebrate it's 25th anniversary. Just last week I told you that Burberry Prorsum was returning home in September to present the Spring collection in the British capital. Well, now Matthew Williamson has also announced plans to bring his designs to London.

Matthew, who recently launched a collaboration with H&M, usually presents his collection in New York. He told WWD, "We were so impressed with the momentum that’s building and the BFC’s plans to mark the anniversary that we decided to show in London. It’s a landmark season for London Fashion Week and we want to join in the celebrations."

The Manchester born designer will be in London next week as he prepares to judge the Graduate Fashion Week students. With all of these big names returning to the capital, surely Stella McCartney will be the next to follow suit?

Fab Flash: Graduate Fashion Week Judges Revealed

Just over a week to go until 2009 Graduate Fashion Week kicks off at Earls Court in London. This is the week when students from all over the UK head to the capital to present their final collections. Previous graduates to show there include Christopher Bailey of Burberry, Stella McCartney and Julien Macdonald. The judging panel for this year's River Island Gold Award has just been revealed to include Matthew Williamson and Giles Deacon who will take their places alongside Elle's editor-in-chief Lorraine Candy and River Island's CEO Richard Bradbury. I, of course, will be there to bring you all of the big names of tomorrow. Will you or anybody you know be presenting their graduate lines?
