Friday night was Halloween (as if you didn't notice) and even the cool London kids got dressed up for the event. Alexa Chung hosted a Halloween party at Browns Focus which was attended by her fashionable friends Daisy Lowe and Pixie Geldof. Daisy opted for an on-trend gothic ensemble with bright coloured mask showing off her seemingly-endless pins.

This weekend a glammed up Carmen Electra hosted ROK's inaugural Halloween bash in LA. Carmen dressed as a sexy usherette, complete with a French maid's style bustier and lots of fake tan. She opted for dark, smoky eyes and lashings of mascara for a classically seductive vibe.

When preparing for a Halloween party I can never forget that scene in Mean Girls when Cady (Lindsay Lohan) turns up to a party dressed as a scary "ex-wife". In the movie she says, "In girl world, Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it."
I couldn't agree with her more and that's why I think that dressing up like a cheeky minx would be fun.

Whether you're going as a sexy cat or a Luella-inspired zombie; it's all about the nails this Halloween. Black polish looks chic with elegant goth offerings, and it makes your witch outfit look more individual. I'm excited about having an excuse to paint my nails black, although I get the impression that everyone will have inky talons this weekend.

This Friday is Halloween but not everybody wants to dress up as a cat, a witch or anything else ghoulish. Some people will want to dress up in a very classy party ensemble and there are many options available!
This season gothic chic appeared on the catwalk at Givenchy and Gareth Pugh so it's a particularly good time for Halloween costumes.

Channel your inner evil teen this Halloween by taking your lead from the catwalk. Le Freak has never been so chic with models sporting black lipstick, pale skin, zombie eyes and crimped hair at the Autumn/Winter shows this season. Take note though, this look is not about being pretty or glamorous, if that's more your bag then try a cat beauty style instead.

It looks like Ekaterina Ivanonva has prepped early this year for Halloween. Back in August the model and girlfriend of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood created a dramatic and colourful cat look with plenty of face paint. Channeling a cartoonish cat woman vibe, Ekaterina and her friend were definitely having fun with their look.

You can dress up as anything you like for Halloween but I still think that you can't beat a classic witch or cat costume. Call me traditional but I like to look a bit scary for the occasion and nothing scares me more than the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz. Think black and white stripey socks and bright red shoes sticking out of a knee-length black dress.

Dressing up for Halloween is lots of fun, but let's face it, most of us don't want to look unattractive or scary for a night out. A witch's cat is a failsafe costume choice for flirty sex kittens and if you don't want to go all out like Heidi Klum did last year, then you can just create feline-like makeup and wear black leggings and boots.
If you're looking for something really easy to achieve, all you need to do is buy a cat mask and wear with dark purple-red lipstick.
