Yesterday at the Jill Stuart fashion show in New York, actress Rachel Bilson sat in the front row showing off her engagement ring and her teal blue nails. Also in town wearing donning a brighter shade of aqua nail varnish was Michelle Trachtenberg at the Rebecca Minkoff presentation. Out of these two blue nail hues, which do you like more?

Over the past few days, we've seen celebrities appearing on the red carpet with peeper popping blue-hued makeup. First there was Stephanie Pratt from The Hills who wore bright and funky aqua eyeliner at Nylon Magazine's Young Hollywood Issue Party, then we saw Rihanna at The Costume Institute Met Gala in sparkling cobalt blue liner and shadow. Also in attendance on Monday night was the newly married Gisele Bundchen who donned a stunning navy mini-dress that she paired with navy liner and smoky blue shadow.

Many lovely ladies on the red carpet last night indulged in this season's positive colour palette, or more specifically various shades of blue. From Alexandra's eye catching body con dress to Alexa's sparkly number they brightened up the red carpet and brought a touch of glam rock. Little Boots' Alexander McQueen dress also added an edgy feel to the event whilst Fearne opted for a more tailored ensemble.

Bold, look-at-me bright makeup is a key trend for this summer, and the look is set to get even more extreme for autumn/winter.
Proenza Schouler sent out models with bright blue eyeshadow, harking back to the 70s, and turning yet another beauty no-no into a trend.
But how will this translate to real life?

I am such a big fan of the colour blue for clothing as it goes with almost everything. Sugar reader emalove broke up an otherwise entirely blue outfit with a black waist belt and black gladiator heeled sandals. I think it's a great look, very '50s inspired.

House of Blue Eyes was established in 2008 with a fashion show that Kate Moss famously made an appearance in. Johnny BlueEyes is the creative director and he is truly dedicated to the brand.

I wouldn't exactly call this a show, rather, it was more like a presentation for Johnny Blue Eyes' 2010 Autumn collection. Held at the Vauxhaull Fashion Scout in Covent Garden, the backstage area for hair, makeup and dressing was set up for tea and cupcakes and filled with bright colours and music. The theme for the show was love, peace and revolution and the makeup (all done by Illamasqua and lead by the Creative Director herself, Alex Box) reflected that optimistic vibe with bold, gold and colourful makeup.

I knew lashes were a major focus for 2010, but not to this degree! According to reports today, lashes, false lashes, and lash enhancers are the fastest growing sector of the beauty industry. Apparently, sales of false eyelashes have gone up 6.2 percent in the US alone this year, raking in a staggering $44 million.

The House of Blue Eyes Spring 2010 Fashion Show took place at Jalouse nightclub on Friday evening. The makeup was created by Illamasqua Artisitc Director Alex Box who collaborated with Johnny Blue Eyes on the futuristic, Egyptian with a twist of Sci-Fi style.
The clothing had a kind of 80's, burnished gold, androgynous edge to it, so they wanted the makeup to reflect the same kind of look.
