Dame Vivienne Creates Eco-Friendly Uniforms for Virgin Atlantic

When Dame Vivienne Westwood met Richard Branson through her former husband Malcolm McLaren years ago, she had no idea it would lead to a such a grand fashion proposition. It seems that Westwood was asked by the business mogul to design the next set of uniforms for his 7,500 person Virgin flight staff for 2014.

The red and black futuristic outfits have been created out of recycled materials like polyster yarn and canvas, as Westwood is super eco-concious. Over the weekend at the Vogue festival, she said, "I really think that Richard Branson has really good motives for everything he does. Fashion — actually let's call it clothing, because most of it isn't fashion — is one of the biggest polluters, it must be with all that landfill. My main focus is quality, rather quantity, and I've been saying to people, 'Buy less, choose well, make it last', Rather than just keep sucking things up."

The women's looks are feminine with a sleek silhouette whilst the male styles are more formal, with the cabin members wearing a three piece suit. How fun is it going to be to fly Virgin surrounded by so much style! Are you excited to see the new outfits next year?

Last month, rumours claimed British models would take part in a fashion event as part of the Olympics Closing Ceremony in London this August. Documents leaked and published today have now added further details about this tribute to great British fashion. As previously reported, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell will walk the catwalk, and today's reports suggest they will be joined by Stella Tennant, Lily Cole and Georgia May Jagger wearing outfits from the likes of Vivienne Westwood and Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen to a music backdrop of David Bowie songs 'Fashion' and 'Rebel Rebel'. While I'm disappointed Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's name seems to have dropped off the list, I can't wait to see the event. Are you excited for this Olympic fashion parade at the Closing Ceremony on August 12?

Royal Red Carpet: Vivienne Westwood's Jubilee Inspired Collection

Vivienne Westwood has unveiled a Red Carpet Capsule Collection that's taken inspiration from the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Vivienne Westwood has unveiled a Red Carpet Capsule Collection that's taken inspiration from the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. At the beginning of the month, we got a sneek peek on Twitter at Westwood's collection hanging on the rails, and now Grazia Daily has got shots of the gowns in all their glory. The dresses, which have been influenced by styles Queen Elizabeth II has worn, are characteristically Westwood with their draped fabrics, but the colours are softer than we're used to seeing from the British designer. The taffeta, silk satins, double georgettes and organza crepe de chine gowns come in toned down greys, pale pinks and aqua blues, and will be on sale at Vivienne Westwood stores from May along with earrings worthy of Royalty. Are you surprised the Queen of Punk has taken inspiration from the actual Queen?
