Tom Cruise got into a water war with Jimmy Fallon when he dropped by Late Night in NYC yesterday.

Tom Cruise got into a water war with Jimmy Fallon when he dropped by Late Night in NYC yesterday. Tom, who appeared on the Late Show the previous night as part of his promotion for Jack Reacher, first sat down to chat with Jimmy about giving their mothers Christmas gifts. After Jimmy talked about how he once gave his mom a food processor from a local drugstore, he asked Tom if he ever gave his mom something nice "like that." Tom and the audience started to laugh, and he said, "Actually, I do think I got her a food processor. I remember, I wrapped it in a house." Later, Jimmy invited Tom to take part in their water war skit, where Jimmy and celebrities do battle by trying to drench each other with water. Tom won the water war and earned the privilege of spraying Jimmy with a powerful water cannon.

David Letterman Drops the F-Bomb on a Shocked Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise swung by the Late Show in NYC last night as part of his promotional tour for Jack Reacher.

Tom Cruise swung by the Late Show in NYC last night as part of his promotional tour for Jack Reacher. While on the show, Tom seemed a bit scandalized when host David Letterman dropped the f-bomb on him unexpectedly. Tom and Dave started their interview discussing having "the talk" with their kids, and Dave revealed that while he hasn't addressed sex yet, he's already had a conversation with his son Harry about dirty words. Dave explained, "I said, 'Harry, do you know dirty words?' And he says, 'Well, I know the s-word.' . . . And I said, 'And the f-word?' And he said 'F**k.'" The f-word was bleeped on the show, but it sent Tom into a fit of laughter. Tom said, "I'm just thinking, someone's got the plug — and they're pulling it [on this show]."

The past week has been a busy one for Tom, despite having to cancel his Jack Reacher premiere in Pittsburgh due to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. The Pittsburgh premiere, which was supposed to take place last Saturday, has been rescheduled for Dec. 19. An NYC screening and event honoring Tom that was supposed to take place yesterday has not yet been given a new premiere date. The film will hit theaters on Dec. 21.

Tom promoted Rock of Ages with premieres in LA and London alongside his costars Julianne Hough and Russell Brand. While doing press, Tom joked about keeping a bejeweled item from the set and gifting it to Katie Holmes. Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, and the whole Rock of Ages gang premiered their picture in London tonight. The UK screening came after the LA event for Rock of Ages on Friday that brought out a Hollywood crowd including Zac Efron, Josh Duhamel, and writer Justin Theroux. Tom posed for photos with costars Mary J. Blige, Russell Brand, and Paul Giamatti, as well as director Adam Shankman. Some of their costars didn't make the trek to Britain, like Alec Baldwin and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Still, it seems like Tom, Julianne, and company are excited to be in London. Upon her arrival, Julianne tweeted, "Love being here . . . Feels like home." Adam, meanwhile, seems to be quite the royalist. He wrote, "Loving London . . . Scavenging for jubilee mementos!"
