Sass & Bide Spring 2013

Sass & Bide made their return to London Fashion Week in the company of Jourdan Dunn and Cara Delevingne on the catwalk on Friday.

Sass & Bide made their return to London Fashion Week in the company of Jourdan Dunn and Cara Delevingne on the catwalk on Friday. Masculine dressing infused the still feminine luxe Loveshady collection, which was inspired by Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke's trip to Peru and Buenos Aires — think monochrome suits with sequinned mini capes, cravats with flowers, structured tailoring with floating chiffon tail coats, and tuxedo jackets with silver palazzo trousers. Whites and golds were followed by neon orange, blacks and glittering silvers, with textures also following the gender mixing with feathers offset against metallic ribbing. Embellishments of beads, shells and sequins topped off the ethereal glamour.

  • Trends: Masculine meets feminine, tailoring, metallics, embellishment, texture.
  • Colors: Black, white, gold, silver, neon orange.
  • Key Piece: The black suit complete with sequinned shoulders says don't mess with me.
  • Accessories: Gold belts, gold floral necklaces, lace up heels.
  • Who Should Wear It: Power dressers like Sarah Jessica Parker and Tilda Swinton.

2011 Autumn London Fashion Week: Sass and Bide

Sass and Bide brought a ray of sunshine to a chilly London day with its latest collection.

Sass and Bide brought a ray of sunshine to a chilly London day with its latest collection. The Australian designer duo showed a typically free-spirited collection this evening with block color and clashing prints titled "Boogie and the Historymaker." An eye-catching color palette was used of bright pink and orange, which was broken up with statement accessories like a thick beaded belt. The prints had a tribal feel and were teamed with hand-painted wraps. Pieces were long, flowing, and produced from soft silk and suede. Designers Sarah Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton commented, "This season's girl is free spirited and strangely wonderful, she'll be wearing this collection everywhere."

  • Trends: Color blocking, clashing prints, mixed textures.
  • Colors: Pink, orange, monochrome.
  • Key Looks: A long flowing pink dress with an asymmetric hem.
  • Accessories: Statement belts, slouchy clutch bags, necklaces.
  • Who Would Wear It: Glamorous, bohemian women who like to make a statement with color.

To celebrate Australia day, I have rounded up some fab pieces by designers from down under. Obviously, these guys know a thing or two about how to dress in the sunshine so there are some great items to snap up for Spring. There are some really big names like Sass and Bide (who usually show in London) and Collette Dinnigan (who is a red carpet favourite), but also some upcoming designers to watch like Dion Lee and Stolen Girlfriend's Club. If it's swimwear you're after then look no further than Zimmermann who make gorgeous bikinis. Click through to see ten pieces from my favourite Aussie names.

2010 Autumn Trend Alert: Leather Harness

London is famous for being fashion forward as a city and debuting trends before the other capitals have even considered it.

London is famous for being fashion forward as a city and debuting trends before the other capitals have even considered it. This is especially true with young, upcoming designers, but also with bigger names which are now showing here. Over the past seven days I have begun to notice trends emerging which are sure to influence Autumn wardrobes. If you're a regular reader of fashion blogs, then you will already be aware that the harness is becoming a highly coveted accessory.

Stylish ladies like Queen Michelle and Susie Bubble have already been talking about the accessory, and now it's about to be given even more prominence. I spotted a brown leather version at Topshop Unique where it was worn over a very fluffy faux fur coat. I also saw it at Sass and Bide where it was added to a maxi dress giving edge to the look. If you can't wait til Autumn to get your hands on one than I heart Norwegian wood has some cool versions to buy now. What do you think of this accessory?

Ten of my Favourite Looks from Sass and Bide

Whilst I love that London is a city which celebrates and provides a platform for young, creative talent, it's also great to see it as a fashion capital which attracts commercially successful labels like Sass and Bide.

Whilst I love that London is a city which celebrates and provides a platform for young, creative talent, it's also great to see it as a fashion capital which attracts commercially successful labels like Sass and Bide. The Australian duo presented their Autumn collection yesterday at Somerset House. The show was produced in monochrome with plenty of embellishment which added edge to the looks. Here are ten of my favourite looks from the show.

Love it or Hate it: Sass and Bide Beast Rat Leggings

Last Winter, Sass and Bide caused a storm with their rat leggings which were spotted on celebrities (including Russell Brand) and mere mortals alike.

Last Winter, Sass and Bide caused a storm with their rat leggings which were spotted on celebrities (including Russell Brand) and mere mortals alike. This season, they have stepped up a gear with an animal print!

The beast rat leggings (£185) have a gold design running across them and would certainly make a statement. They would have to be worn with something plain to avoid an overwhelming oufit. What do you think of them?

Sass and Bide were mainly famous for their skinny jeans until this season when their rat leggings quickly became one of the most talked about pieces of the Autumn. Most of you thought they were fabulous and it seems that Russell Brand agrees with you too!

I was slightly put off by their name but have since warmed to the style and have even developed a slight soft spot for the PVC version (£130). The standard ruched leggings (£93) sell out very quickly.

Fab Blab: Russell Brand on Ruched Leggings

Here at Fab UK, I don't usually concern myself with menswear.

Here at Fab UK, I don't usually concern myself with menswear. However, when it's womenswear being worn by a man the lines get blurred — and when that man is Russell Brand then the two categories truly merge! Eagle eye fashion fans will have already noticed that Russell has recently been seen in Sass & Bide's Rat Leggings. The ruched style appeared on the catwalk in August (pictured center) and have since been worn by celebrities and fans selling out at £95 a pair.

This weekend Russell attempted to justify his latest womenswear crush and he told The Observer, "I think the ruching, strangely, stops them from being too feminine. It's not often you can say that about ruching. Yes, they are ladies' trousers." What do you think about Russell embracing the leggings trend? Do you think he can rock them, or has he taken this look a step too far?
