It was definitely all about colour this evening at the BAFTA Awards as those who didn't rock blue hues went for more tropical shades. Aaron Johnson escorted his fiancee Sam Taylor Wood and baby bump out of Claridges last night and into a waiting cab. Aaron is headed to the Cannes Film Festival at the end of the week to promote his new movie Chatroom in which he stars alongside Imogen Poots and Skins stars Hannah Murray and Daniel Kaluuya — check out the trailer under the cut. Sam and Aaron's movie Nowhere Boy was released on DVD this week, although it won't be released in the US until John Lennon's birthday in October.

It's a brand new month, and this Bank Holiday I have a selection of the new releases I'm excited for in May for you. My list includes DVDs, new albums and one very exciting movie release — enjoy!
The Hollywood premiere of Kick-Ass took place last night, with all the stars of the movie present. Aaron Johnson and his pregnant fiancee Sam Taylor Wood posed together as the sun set, while Chloe Moretz, Clark Duke, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Lyndsy Fonseca reunited on the red carpet. Nicolas Cage chatted to Aaron and Chloe, while screenwriter Jane Goldman brought some bright colour to the carpet with her amazing hair. Unlike the London premiere, there was no Brad Pitt, but some British support came in the form of Stephen Fry, who looked very happy to be there, while Jaime King and Nicky Hilton also checked out the movie. It's out this weekend in the US — I wonder if it will do as well there as it did in the UK.

Aaron Johnson and Christopher Mintz-Plasse were in Manchester yesterday for a preview screening of Kick-Ass alongside Aaron's fiancee Sam Taylor Wood. Both stars have admitted that if they could have played anyone else in the movie it would be Hit Girl, played by 11-year-old Chloe Moretz. As you've seen from the trailer, Aaron and Christopher aren't that convincing as self-made superheroes, whereas Chloe definitely lives up to her name! The movie, scribed by Jonathan Ross's wife Jane Goldman comes out this weekend!

Monday's Kick-Ass premiere was a big success with producer Brad Pitt showing up on the red carpet, and yesterday the cast were out for the Dublin premiere. Aaron Johnson arrived with his fiancee Sam Taylor Wood and this weekend he spoke to the Sunday Times about his family, his first stage role at the age of six, leaving school at 15 and his role in the movie. Here are some excerpts:
- On career compromises: "See, I’m going to be a father soon, you know what I mean? Which is so wonderfully exciting, I can’t wait for it. And I also know there are so many things I want to give my child. And maybe that means taking a job purely for the money. I hope not. But I’ve got a really good relationship with Sam. We have a great understanding for each other’s work artistically, as well as knowing what’s a creative piece and what’s something that’s going to be a commercial job that could possibly not be ideal for your career, but will bring in some money. Do what you love, and if you can keep doing the ones you love, they’re often the ones you don’t make much money from. But we support each other and keep things going.”
- On the press attention the couple get: "Things have gotten weird because there’s attention paid to parts of my personal life I never signed up for. But that’s the strength of me and Sam together. It’s not only that we’re trying to protect ourselves. We’ve got kids we’re trying to protect, and our families at home. So it doesn’t really faze me, because I don’t think about it. I’m thinking about my home and kids and that, because that’s what I enjoy thinking about. It’s much nicer when you’ve got that grounding — that rock at home. And you run with it together and become a team.”
