Trend Alert: Seventies Beauty Makes Comeback!

Dust off those disco records ladies, because if the Spring New York catwalk shows are anything to go by, seventies beauty is set to make a major comeback.

Dust off those disco records ladies, because if the Spring New York catwalk shows are anything to go by, seventies beauty is set to make a major comeback. All over the place, makeup and hair stylists have referencing the decade. Marc Jacobs worked up an ultra-glam ode to Studio 54 glamour with his beauty theme, (created by François Nars and hair guru Guido Palau), combining super smokey eyes with transparent skin and marcel waved hair. Meanwhile, Reem Acra worked a glam hippy look with loose languid curls and sunkissed subtle makeup. (Check out the far right picture below. Gorgeous, right?!!)

Tracy Reese was also embracing the seventies in her pool party chic collection. Here the look again was au naturelle with gently bronzed natural makeup, paired with bouncy centre-parted long hair.

Personally, I am loving this. It's a refreshing change of speed from all the Mad Men 1960s influence we've seen in recent seasons. I'm also loving the use of big flower hair accessories at Marc Jacobs. What a fab way to glam up a hairstyle! Are you a fan of the 1970s look?
