Matt Damon joined up with his Behind the Candelabra costar Michael Douglas to premiere their new film at the Cannes Film Festival today.

Matt Damon joined up with his Behind the Candelabra costar Michael Douglas to premiere their new film at the Cannes Film Festival today. Matt also had his wife Luciana by his side and they snapped pictures of all the action as they made their way down the carpet. Matt and Michael are screening their HBO project in the South of France before it officially hits the small screen on Sunday, May 26. Earlier in the day, Matt and Michael attended a photo call and a press conference. They have been doing quite a bit of press for the biopic, which follows Liberace, played by Michael, and his young lover, played by Matt. Naturally, a story about a couple had to involve love scenes, and Michael revealed in a recent interview he wasn't exactly put off by the idea of kissing one of America's best-looking actors. He said, "As far as making out with Matt, it’s not so bad. We rehearsed the scenes. For me, I guess the biggest thrill is, when I first saw it, after a few minutes, I really forget it’s Matt. Matt and Mike, you know? I just forget it’s us."

Matt is in Cannes after wrapping up filming for his upcoming film with George Clooney, The Monuments Men, in Germany. The pair celebrated finishing the film by having a boys weekend at George's Lake Como estate earlier this month.

Matt Damon Gets Back to Work Following Caribbean Vow Renewal

Matt Damon went casual to promote his new movie, Elysium, in Cancun, Mexico, on Saturday. He posed at a photocall with his costars Sharlto Copley and Diego Luna, as well as the film's director, Neill Blomkamp, and snapped pics on his phone of photographers and fans. Matt is south of the border as part of the annual Summer of Sony event, where the film studio highlights its upcoming blockbusters before they hit the big screen. He has been spending quite a bit of time in sunny locales as of late — Matt renewed his vows with wife Luciana Damon on the island of St. Lucia earlier this month.

Matt wasn't the only star who was working the press trail in Cancun during Spring break season. Channing Tatum joined up with Jamie Foxx and Maggie Gyllenhaal to showcase their upcoming movie, White House Down, on Friday. Channing and Jamie danced a coordinated performance in front of photographers, as did Maggie.

Matt Damon and Michael Douglas Go All Out For EW

If the first photo of Michael Douglas as Liberace and Matt Damon as his lover in Behind the Candelabra wasn't enough for you, then you're in luck!

If the first photo of Michael Douglas as Liberace and Matt Damon as his lover in Behind the Candelabra wasn't enough for you, then you're in luck! The pair cover this week's Entertainment Weekly, complete with feathered hair, blingin' rings, and lip color. In the issue, the guys talk about their HBO movie (directed by Steven Soderbergh), their crazy costumes, and awkward sex scenes. Here are highlights:

  • Damon on what he went through for the role: Every Sunday night, this girl would come to my house and I would stand in my garage and I would hike my boxer briefs up into the crack of my ass, and she would give me a spray tan. We've [Damon and his wife, Luciana] been through three childbirths, we've been in the trenches, there are no secrets. But I really wish she didn't see that. That’s too much.
  • Damon on sex scenes: The scene where I’m behind him and going at him, we did that in one take. We do it. Cut. There’s a long pause. And then you just hear Steven go, "Well… I have no notes."

The movie airs on May 26, and you can get a better look at the cover when you read more

Matt Damon Helps Honor Ben Affleck as a Modern Master

Ben Affleck was honored with the Santa Barbara International Film Festival's modern master award last night.

Ben Affleck was honored with the Santa Barbara International Film Festival's modern master award last night. He ventured to the city along with his best friend Matt Damon. Ben sat for a Q&A session moderated by Leonard Maltin before the nighttime ceremony, where Matt had the honor of introducing Ben to the crowd. Matt said of Ben, "[He's] undeniably two things — my very old friend and a very young master." Ben walked onto the stage, and the childhood pals embraced. Later, Ben and Matt relaxed and chatted with mini bottles of Moët & Chandon in hand. It's been a good week for Matt and Ben togetherness, since they also had a play fight when Matt took over Jimmy Kimmel's show Thursday.

Matt Damon took over Jimmy Kimmel Live — renamed Jimmy Kimmel Sucks for the night — yesterday. Matt hosted with the help of special guests Reese Witherspoon, Amy Adams, Demi Moore, and Nicole Kidman. Matt was also joined by his close pal Ben Affleck. It wasn't easygoing between Matt and Ben, though. Matt's had a long-running fake feud with Jimmy, but Ben and Jimmy have always been close publicly. That rivalry came to a head last night — check out Matt and Ben's silly exchange in the clip above.

Matt had further digs for Jimmy, opening the show with a question to the audience: "Is it weird to see a person with actual talent host this show?" Even Jimmy's own parents came on in a prerecorded video to say Matt is the son they'd always wanted. The whole thing was latest chapter of a years-long joke between Matt and Jimmy, who's closed many a show with an apology to Matt for running out of time for their interview.

Matt Damon and Michael Douglas Talk Liberace at the Winter TCA

Matt Damon and Michael Douglas took the stage at the HBO Winter 2013 TCA Panel yesterday in Pasadena.

Matt Damon and Michael Douglas took the stage at the HBO Winter 2013 TCA Panel yesterday in Pasadena. Michael and Matt, who costar in HBO's upcoming Behind the Candelabra, were at the Langham Hotel with producer Jerry Weintraub and director Steven Soderbergh to chat up their Liberace biopic. The TV film is based on the story of Liberace, portrayed by Michael, and his five-year relationship with the much younger Scott Thorson, played by Matt.

The gang spoke about the project yesterday at the TCA and about their struggles to make the project as accurate as possible because it was based on the stories of real people. Matt said about the Liberace film, "There are aspects of their relationship that were absurd, but for me, it just kind of pointed out that there are aspects of all of our lives that are absurd . . . What it felt like was if this was a relationship between a man and a woman, you’d feel moments like, 'This is too intimate — maybe I shouldn’t be here.' But it’s between a man and a man, and I’ve never seen that movie before. So it was fun, but we weren’t giggling about it. We took it very seriously. These are people’s lives, and we wanted to get it right."

Matt spent the afternoon focusing on his small-screen project, though his latest big-screen endeavor, Promised Land, arrived in theaters across the country yesterday, too. The project was out in limited release a week ago, but has now opened widely — check out so-so Promised Land reviews.
