My bookshelves are literally bulging with fashion literature. From street style guides, to history books I am constantly improving my knowledge of the industry. Just when I thought I had my fix of books exploring la mode, Fashionista: A Century of Style Icons by Simone Werle (£16.99) lands in my hands.

If you haven't heard of Alayna Salter yet, you'll soon be hearing her name everywhere. The Oxford born singer has been likened to Avril Lavigne, and has many strings to her bow. She is still working hard to break in to the world of music, but is also a budding jewellery designer whose pieces have been already been snapped up by Katy Perry, Paris Hilton, Heidi Range, and Gabriella Cilmi.

Backstage at the Harriet's Muse show, yesterday at London Fashion Week, internationally renowned makeup artist Rachel Wood was working her magic on the models. The inspiration behind the graphic, cartoon makeup looks was Hollywood screen siren meets Disney.

Last night at the Metroplitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute Gala, British model Agyness Deyn took a nod from Marilyn Monroe when constructing her beauty look. Stefano and Domenico put exaggerated shoulders firmly on the map this week with their Autumn '09 collection. The high glamour '80s inspired line mainly relied on a dark palette with an extreme shot of colour via a few neon pink items. It was a fun show taking inspiration from Marilyn Monroe (whose face was printed on a dress) and Minnie Mouse (who was represented with plenty of polka dots and rounded shoulders).

According to a recent poll by Marie ClaireUK, Audrey Hepburn has been voted the most beautiful woman in Hollywood. The quirky, energetic and iconic star beat out Angelina Jolie, Grace Kelly, Keira Knightley, Jennifer Aniston and even Brigit Bardot!
I like the mix between blondes and brunettes in this top twenty list, however, if I had it my way, I'd give the highest ranking to Marilyn Monroe.

Well, this is a side of Agyness Deyn that we don't usually see! She has glammed up for this month's cover of Vogue Korea to channel Marilyn Monroe.
I think she looks really glamorous and all grown up.

Bombshell, knock-out, dynamite; these war metaphors are often used to describe a particularly attractive and glamorous type of blonde. The phrase was first used to talk about film actress Jean Harlow. Her movie Bombshell was released in the US in 1933.
