Yesterday, I was lucky enough to attend a talk between the two new faces of MAC's Viva Glam project, Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper as moderated by Sharon Osbourne. The two fun singers spoke animatedly about the new lipsticks which have been launched to raise money and awareness of HIV and AIDs. Viva Glam has already raised more than $160 million, but Lady Gaga knows that it's about more than that.

All star makeup artist Rachel Wood really had her hands full backstage at the Ziad Ghanem show on Monday evening. Backstage was buzzing with four different types of makeup looks that included goth (dark lips, pale skin), showgirl (long lashes that were cut from feather boas), K.D. Lang (sexy androgyny) and rocker boy (clean face with smudged eyeliner and big hair).

In my experience, Spring makeup trends fluctuate from year to year between pops of bold juicy, punchy colours and pretty pastels. However, what makes this year so special is the mix of lights and brights. The one colour that we see blooming all over the place is lilac.

I've already told you my feelings about seeing some fresh faces in adverts for 2010, and it looks like my wish has come true! Get excited because the new year not only brings a whole slew of exciting makeup, skincare, nail polishes, haircare items and fragrances, but there will also be new celebrities posing as models for some of the world's most famous beauty brands.
We've recently heard about Julia Roberts signing with Lancôme, model of the year, Georgia May Jagger has joined the ranks of Rimmel, Cindy Lauper and Lady Gaga will be the new faces of the MAC AIDS Fund, my fingers are crossed about the possibility of Kate Moss collaborating on two new hair and makeup lines and Beyonce is creating her first fragrance.

Last night in New York City, MAC Cosmetics held a private artists' studio tour event for talent that loves and supports their makeup. British clothing designer Gareth Pugh was there with perfectly straightened hair and American frontman for the band Semi Precious Weapons and jewellery designer Justin Tranter was also there with a piecey platinum coif and heavily lined smoky eyes. Tell me, would you rather your guy wear makeup or have hair that takes him longer to style than it takes you?

Despite the torrential rains at last night's UK Harry Potter Premiere, Emma Watson glowed like a sparkling ray of sunshine. She stood under an over-sized translucent brolly wearing a vintage Ossie Clarke gown and minimal jewels. She was smart to wear her hair up (get her hairstyle here) to avoid frizz, however, her makeup remained in tact all evening long.

Last night at the Metroplitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute Gala, British model Agyness Deyn took a nod from Marilyn Monroe when constructing her beauty look. Her silver dress and platinum hair was a clear shout of to Old Hollywood, and her makeup also reflected a classical beauty look with hints of edgy and sexy as a modern twist (note her structured smoky eyes).
For step by step instructions and product suggestions on how you can re-create Aggy's look at home, read more

MAC has just launched its sixth version of Viva Glam Lip wear (£11.26). This time around, the lipstick (which also comes in a lip gloss — yay) is a warm, terracotta-plum with a little bit of shimmer. The first Viva Glam shade, a deep red, was created in 1994 in support of HIV/AIDS and since then, all the money raised by Viva Glam lipsticks has gone to the MAC AIDS Fund.
