Hannah Weil | November 17, 2011 9:53 amIn case you haven't noticed, loafers have made quite the comeback this Fall — not to fear, their resurgence is a lot cooler than the penny loafers we remember from middle school. Instead of school-uniform basics, these kicks have been updated with studs, leopard print, and eye-catching tassels. If you've already snagged a pair, that's half the battle.Read More
Hannah Weil | November 15, 2011 9:29 amMidi skirts and floral prints have made us fans of the ladylike look, now we're taking the next, ahem, step with our footwear. To outfit the trend in full, we're looking to loafer pumps to finish our skirts, dresses, and even trousers with sophistication. With a heel, loafers lend that vintage-inspired polish we've garnered from icons like Katharine Hepburn.Read More
Chi Diem Chau | August 9, 2011 10:30 amLoafers have experienced a major resurgence thanks to designers like Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg, and Nicholas Kirkwood, who showed them on their Fall runways — and the trend is only getting stronger. Whether you prefer them stacked or flat, we think they're the perfect transition shoe leading up to chillier weather. For the ultimate nerdy-chic look, pair loafers with cuffed jeans and a blazer for a casual off-duty vibe, or go for extra throwback drama and don them with a tweedy pencil skirt and a flowy tucked-in blouse.Read More
FabSugarUK | October 27, 2008 2:00 pmThe jurys still out on loafers but I'm definitely warming to the trend. Usually, when I start to come round to a style I was initially opposed to, I'm always really picky about how I wear it. For example, at first I only liked leggings with heels or boots (I have since fully given in).Read More
FabSugarUK | August 11, 2008 1:00 pmOne thing that you have to admire about Kelly Osbourne is that she always makes an effort with what she wears. I don't think I've ever seen a picture of her in a Juicy Couture tracksuit with her hair scraped back. Even in these photos where I'm sure her hair isn't super neat she's hidden it under a beanie.Read More
FabSugarUK | July 15, 2008 5:00 pmOur friends over at Elle UK tell us that everyone in the Elle office is currently wearing loafers and whilst every hip celeb from Alexa Chung to Fearne Cotton has been spotted sporting a pair I'm still not fully convinced.
The ballet pump has reigned as the flat shoe du jour for many seasons now and has arguably outstayed it's welcome (thanks in part to it's celeb following of Kate Moss and Amy Winehouse). So whilst I am excited that change is in the air, I'm not convinced that loafers are really for me.Read More
Hannah Weil | October 20, 2011 10:01 amGiven the obsession with the royals, it seems only fitting that our latest fashion fixation also comes from across the pond, though this time around the style we're seeking is more prep-school punk than Princess Catherine. We never hit the books at Eton, but we're answering Fall's call to Anglo charm with boarding-school basics, like rugby stripes and tasseled loafers. To make your part as prep-school rebel a little more convincing, we've thrown in a few edgier pieces — think McQueen's tartan plaid mini, studded leather cuffs, and distressed tweed jackets to counter the more traditional garb.Read More
Brittney Stephens | September 24, 2011 9:15 amFrom the flattest of flats to the highest of heels, the Spring '12 runways were rife with gorgeous shoes. Cushnie et Ochs showed candy-colored, pin-thin stilettos, Tory Burch and J.Crew gave us new loafers to love, and we got our fix of safari-chic, knee-high gladiator sandals at Michael Kors. We've rounded up 80 (give or take a few) pairs of our absolute favorites, so click through now to see them all — then start planning your Spring shoe shopping list.Read More
FabSugar | September 12, 2011 9:13 amFor Spring 2012, Diane von Furstenberg was inspired by Africa, which translated on the runway to shades of orange, green, and khaki and touches of safari, artfully done with modern appeal — think waist bags and diaphanous cargo pants. The graphic loafers and glittering sandals were particularly fetching, as were the mixed, signature prints. To see the complete collection, watch our runway coverage now!Read More
Noria Morales | August 16, 2011 9:45 amFall's prim and proper theme has a deliciously subversive undercurrent; lurking under the Peter Pan collar blouses and sock-filled loafers is one sexy bombshell waiting to come out. Case in point: Gisele playing the rebellious schoolgirl in i-D mag and Mila Kunis embracing a sex kitten vibe for Glamour UK. It's fun to see the theme played out in the pages of a fashion mag, but little skirts, socks, loafers, and bedroom eyes might be tougher to pull off in real life.Read More
