Stars got a head start on the Grammys celebrations with a special event honoring Bruce Springsteen in LA last night. The MusiCares Person of the Year gala brought out Katy Perry, who is nominated and will present at Sunday's Grammys, as well as Chrissy Teigen and John Legend. John performed after returning to the West Coast with Chrissy from a visit to NYC, where they attended the amfAR Gala. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw walked the carpet and also took the stage together, and Marcus Mumford hung out backstage with Johnny Depp after singing with Mumford and Sons. Bruce, the man of the hour, rocked the crowd with a performance himself, while Elton John, Sting, and others looked on. Johnny Depp was the big winner of this evening's 2012 Generation honor at the MTV Movie Awards in LA. His good pals Joe Perry and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith were on hand to present the golden popcorn and opened the segment with lavish praise for Johnny's life and work. Johnny accepted by accompanying The Black Keys for a musical number, while his daughter, Lily-Rose, looked on proudly from the audience. During a break from the tunes, Johnny thanked his fans for the "amazing honor." The show also featured a montage looking back at many of Johnny's most iconic roles. Johnny Depp brought his latest layered up look to a press conference for Dark Shadows at the Prince Park Tower in Tokyo yesterday. He promoted the project in Japan all weekend including at a screening with director Tim Burton on Saturday. Last week Johnny met up with costars Chloe Moretz, Eva Green, and Helena Bonham Carter to premiere the movie in London ahead of its release date Friday. Dark Shadows came in second at the box office, following behind The Avengers, which took the top spot for the second consecutive weekend.

Johnny Depp arrived at the airport in Tokyo this morning, and quickly changed blazers to hit the red carpet. He and his Dark Shadows director Tim Burton were together for their latest screening, and they stopped to sign autographs for fans before debuting their eighth collaboration for Japanese fans. It's been a busy week for Johnny and Tim. They screened the picture in LA, then had an event with Johnny's costars Eva Green, Helena Bonham Carter, and Chloe Moretz in London. The Dark Shadows reviews have been mixed, making it unlikely that the movie will unseat reigning box office champ The Avengers in the US this weekend.

Johnny Depp had the company of his Dark Shadows costars, Michelle Pfeiffer, in Lanvin, a Tom Ford-clad Eva Green, and Chloe Moretz last night for their big LA premiere. Director Tim Burton was on hand as well, and he stopped to pose for a handful of photos with his frequent collaborator Johnny. Johnny and Tim's latest effort, the story of a vampire who comes back to life after being buried for 200 years, is out in the US on Friday, May 11.

On the black carpet, Johnny spoke about what scares him. He said, "Dancing. The idea of dancing is the only thing that scares me. I'd rather fight a buzz saw than dance." Johnny apparently even invited Steven Tyler to the premiere! Steven, who planted a kiss on Cloris Leachman in full view of the photographers, said Johnny personally called to extend an invitation. Steven said that Johnny pleaded, "Come to the premiere and come jam with us after."
