I Want This Wardrobe... Effy from Skins

Wow what an explosive episode of Skins it was last night! It was one of the most intense of the series and had a very dramatic ending. It was all about Effy, played by Kaya Scodelario, and her inner battles so her wardrobe was definitely used to reflect that. When I interviewed Edward Gibbon, the stylist from the show, he told me that the clothing is often reflecting their feelings at the time. This week Effy's grungey look was a reflection of the brainwashing by Dr Foster which encouraged her to reject "her old wardrobe and create a new one in the hope that (for once) she can fade into the background." Have you been keeping up with Gossip Girl? It's getting pretty tense, particularly between Jenny and Eric as she struggles to cope with her position as Queen Bee. This week's episode saw Jenny as a debutante, which meant many gorgeous gowns and some classic accessories. I was particularly distracted by her Patricia Field half leather gloves which you can just see in these photos. The gloves only covered her fingers and were the perfect edgy accessory for her character.

The new season of Gossip Girl has begun on ITV2 as our favourite Upper East Siders get to grips with college life. Following an eventful Summer, Serena decided to defer her place at Browns to stick around in the city hanging out with Blair, Chuck and Dan. In this week's episode, her relationship with Carter was under scrutiny, but she didn't let that effect her style! She spent a Summer's day in the city showing off her pins in this gorgeous zip front dress (£1,085) by Matthew Williamson. She teamed it with blue suede Zara sandals and a studded handbag by Treesje. What do you think of Serena's look?

I Want This Wardrobe: Carrie Bradshaw

This week it was officially confirmed that the Sex and the City Movie sequel was going ahead as Sarah Jessica Parker slipped back in to Carrie's heels and began strutting along the streets of Manhattan. The exact details of the movie are yet to be revealed (will she move to Dubai or London? will she have a baby?), but one thing is clear – her style is still just as desirable! Carrie was posing outside an apartment block (did they manage to save heaven on fifth?) in gold Louboutin heels with a Chanel clutch and a pretty white Summer dress. Later, she slipped in to something more comfortable as she wore retro sportswear whilst pulling along an impressive pile of luggage (where is she going?)! Chris Noth aka Big has also been spotted in front of the camera. The movie is expected to be released next Summer, are you excited?

I Want This Wardrobe: Effy

Watching Skins has started to leave me as a bit of a green eyed monster as I become increasingly jealous of the gorgeous Effy. She has a typical British rock chic style which looks thrown together, effortless and yet somehow still stylish. Think Alice Dellal mixed with a bit of Kate Moss and a touch of Debbie Harry. This week's episode explored her relationship with Freddie beginning with her bizarrely appearing in his garden. For this surprise visit she wore a large faded horse t-shirt, fishnet tights and her trusty biker boots. See below to get her look.

I Want This Wardrobe: Serena van der Woodsen

On this week's episode of Gossip Girl we saw the girls return to school as Serena gives Blair a run for her money as Queen Bee.

At school the girls have a unique take on their uniform which included plenty of accessories for Isabel and Penelope, vintage lace for Blair, and a layered look for Serena. I like how she wore a biscuit coloured waistcoat over a plain white tee for a subtle contrast and kept accessories nude.

Serena always wears short skirts (and with legs like that, why not?) Copy the look with a tartan bow tulip skirt (£30) and patent pumps. Since it's typically not warm enough in the UK to have bare legs, update the look with tights. See below to get Serena's school style.

In this week's episode of The Hills, Whitney and Lauren spent a few days in New York. During their time there they partied with a lot of male models (lucky them!). Obviously the ladies did it in style and I particularly loved Whitney's ensemble. She wore a floral jumpsuit that was loose creating a culottes effect with a vintage bag and heels. If it's too cold where you are to have bare legs or if you're not feeling as brave as Whitney then add in some thick black tights.

The character of Serena in Gossip Girl has been having a bit of a rough time. The return of a certain figure from her past (Georgina) has left her slightly stressed but fortunately this has not been reflected in her wardrobe choices!

Serena van der Woodsen's style is based upon Kate Moss so she is supposed to look effortlessly chic with plenty of vintage jewellery and it-bags. I particularly liked this outfit as she wore clashing colours for a statement look. Metallics often appear in Serena's outfit and they suit her well.

I Want This Wardrobe: Sex and the City Movie By now, (hopefully) the majority of you have seen the Sex and the City movie. Yay! What did you think? BuzzSugar definitely has her opinions. It's so strange that after months of in-your-face advertisements and semi-revealing movie trailers, the hype is over. But thankfully, the wonderful fashions have not yet expired.
