The 2009 British Fashion Awards take place this evening (you can see a full list of nominees here) and with just hours to go, the British Fashion Council have announced a list of the 25 most powerful in the industry. The list was chosen by a panel which included British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman and contains both household names (Kate Moss, Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith) and lesser known industry insiders (Lulu Kennedy, Louis Wilson and Joan Burnstein) highlighting the size and impact of fashion.
It's also interesting how many of the people mentioned have been knighted proving the importance of the industry as a whole to the UK.

It's very nearly time for the fashion pack to fly over the Atlantic and join in with London's 25th anniversary celebrations. I can't remember the last time there was this much hype about the British fashion showcase and I am so excited to see the creations on offer. There is sure to be a lot of buzz surrounding Burberry, Matthew Williamson, Twenty8Twelve and PPQ to name but a few!

Fashion and Architecture may seem like two very opposite disciplines but after seeing this exhibition the two are inextricably linked. Looking at examples over the past twenty-five years this exhibit at Somerset House brings together some of the world's most creative talents including Hussein Chalayan, Eley Kishimoto, Vivienne Westwood and Viktor & Rolf.
The exhibit is divided into key themes including shelter, geometry, pleating and constructing volume.

Graduate Fashion Week is just a few weeks away and as the students run around putting the finishing touches to their collections maybe they should be considering who might be watching. As well as plenty of proud parents and members of the press, it has been revealed that design scouts from established houses such as Hermès, Calvin Klein, and Marc Jacobs will also be there.
In March we announced that Claudia Schiffer would be on the judging panel this year and she will appear alongside Zandra Rhodes, Henry Holland and Gareth Pugh.
