Kate Moss Spends The Last Few Days in Fur

This morning, Kate Moss was spotted leaving the Radio One Studios in London to tape the Early Morning Breakfast Show Red Nose Day Special where she wore a grey fur jacket paired with a bright snakeskin tote and read an excerpt from 50 Shades of Grey to help raise monies - £200,000 to be exact. Later that day, she joined husband Jaime Hince at The Book of Morman Red Nose Day Benefit show at the Prince of Wales Theatre in the West End wearing a white fur atop her black outfit. Then on Monday, Kate was the guest of honour at a Kerastase haircare party where she was formally introduced in London as the face of the brand. She stole the show in a chocolate brown mink that fell just below her bum. Yesterday, Poppy Delevigne was backstage at the Louis Vuitton Fall 2012 fashion show in Paris sporting a brown and grey, vest-style coat. However, Paris isn't the only city that has the inside scoop on the hotness for next season. Just weeks before on the runway at Mulberry, was a breathtaking deep brown shaggy fur coat, and prior to that we saw Anna Wintour sitting front and centre at Jonathan Saunders in a brown fur too. Dennis Basso is a controversial brand, so this ad campaign is sure to ruffle the feathers of animal rights activists. She is not one to shy from controversy, earlier this week, Naomi talked about racism within the fashion industry claiming that an editor in chief was fired for placing her on the cover. Trend Alert: Fur Gilet

Sometimes I am shocked by the fast turn around of trends and that applies here! In 2002, when boho was in full swing, Sienna Miller was spotted in one which caused many to rush out and emulate her.

The gilet is back on the High Street now and is a great way to prepare for the transeasonal months (although be careful in the rain). One of my favourites is this faux fur (£39) version from Very.

Worst Dressed Celebrities Are Named and Shamed

The catwalks in 2009 saw an increase in the amount of fur used in all of the fashion capitals. There were some theories for this increase, including designers being paid to use the animal fabric. Whatever the reason, The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is determined to discourage celebrities from wearing it in 2010 by naming and shaming some of the worst offenders. Kate Moss, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Elizabeth Hurley are amongst those named in a poll along with Coleen Rooney, Alex Curran, Dame Shirley Bassey and the Duchess of Cornwall.

The winner will be chosen in an online poll and announced in February by Stella McCartney. Last year, Paris Hilton and Christina Ricci were nominated and changed their love of fur. Dan Mathews, vice-president of Peta commented,

"We've written to Rihanna in the hope that the furs she's been flaunting are fake, but it seems the cat's got her tongue. The Duchess of Cornwall, not to be thwarted by the fox-hunting ban, has gone hunting in her grannie's wardrobe. Then there's the old guard like Shirley Bassey, who has a skin-crawling fashion sense. Elizabeth Hurley's wardrobe is now as dead as her film career."
