Holy wow! I attended a launch for the new Crème Ancienne Eye Cream from Fresh yesterday and it completely blew me away. Actually, it wasn't solely this product that I found so amazing, it was the entire range.

FabSugar UK and I both love a designer candle. Recently, she got especially excited over a pink Temperley London for Amnesty International candle, whilst I'm partial to Jo Malone's treasures (specifially the classic Pomegranite Noir, £38). I like burning them while I'm in the bath, or even in the sitting area when I'm reading a magazine or on my computer.

Season after season I create beauty-related gift guides because I personally love gifting beauty products to my family and close friends. I realize that perfumes, makeup, nail polish, skincare and haircare items are quite personal purchases, especially when it comes to colours and scents. However, there are a handful of cult items that have been best sellers for so long, it's hard to ignore their universal appeal.

August is prime time for holiday beauty. Most of Europe is taking a break and either flocking to the sunshine, or setting aside time to hang in the countryside with family and friends. This means lots of low-maintenance beauty looks using products that are created to multitask.

New from Fresh is a lightweight Soy Face Cream (£28) which can be used separately or in conjunction with their famous Soy Face Cleanser. I was surprised to learn that Fresh was the first company to use soy in their products, but from what I've seen so far, I wish more brands would catch on! I tell everyone who will listen about the face wash because it's the only thing that gets my mascara off without stripping my skin or having to even slightly pull on my eyes.

As a complement to Fresh's Sugar Acaí Age-Delay Body Cream is a brand-new magnificently scented sugar and citrus fruit Body Scrub (£32). Acaí, a Brazilian dark berry is packed with high concentrations of antioxidants, which we know helps fight off free radicals (those nasty cells that cause premature signs of ageing).
Blended with sugar crystals (I'm not ashamed to admit to doing a little taste test), the scrub is hydrating (from the fruit acids), moisturising (from the cupuaçu seed butter and jojoba oil) and as I mentioned earlier, the aroma is totally intoxicating (there's a hint of caramel and bergamot added to make your mouth water).

I hope you're getting excited, because there are only 20 more days until the official launch of Summer. However, with the all of the lovely UK weather we've been having, it's worth starting to protect, prepare and primp your skin now for the sun. Here are six of my top picks for this season's 'it' items!

I'm a big fan of Elemis spa products, so I was excited to hear that for its 20th anniversary the company is launching its very first fragrance!
The scent – known simply as Elemis Eu du Parfum (£35) – goes on sale next month in Debenhams and has been made in Grasse, the famous town in Southern France known for supplying floral ingredients to some of the finest perfume houses. Apparently it was created by Noella Gabriel, Director of Product and Treatment Development for Elemis and her French perfumer.
