Meanwhile, Gwen Stefani debuted a shimmering, personality-packed gunmetal grey gown covered in fringe, and Freida Pinto showed off an embellished nude gown. Amy Adams took the shorter route — literally — in her flared navy Elie Saab Haute Couture dress accessorized with jewelry from Marina B.
Far outweighing the glamour of most other red carpets, the Cannes Film Festival is as much about the jaw-dropping couture as it is about the movies. This year's fest was no exception — from start to finish, we were treated to a lineup of A-list dressing. Given the nonstop glamour, it's not easy to play favourites, but we've narrowed it down to just a handful of the most stunning Cannes arrivals. Cara Delevingne lit up the scene in a sultry black lace Burberry gown, Freida Pinto wowed in brilliant colour with a bright pink Gucci gown, and Jessica Biel hit the carpet in a frothy, feathery Marchesa confection and a megawatt serpent necklace. Not to be outdone, Marion Cotillard dazzled in an elegant white Dior dress, and Nicole Kidman played official juror in a decadent and ultrafeminine Valentino Couture gown. Of these five most memorable fashion moments, who's your Cannes red carpet queen? Cast your vote now.
The Dubai International Film Festival held this year's Oxfam charity gala tonight with major Hollywood names like Rooney Mara, Freida Pinto, Kristin Davis, Colin Firth, and his lovely wife, Livia, all stepping out in their finest formal attire. Rooney stuck with her signature slicked-back locks and opted for a sheer and shimmery look from Calvin Klein. Freida chose a vintage red gown from Valentino, while Kristin kicked up her heels in vintage Dior.
The celebration is a reunion of sorts for Colin and Rooney, two of last year's award season favorites. Rooney earned her first-ever nomination for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and Colin took home the Academy Award for best actor for his role in The King's Speech. He'll likely return to the Oscars this year as it's traditional for the previous winners to take part in the show. We're less than a month away from the kickoff of award season, with both the SAG and Golden Globe nominees announced this week!
Freida Pinto and Clive Owen were among the stars to step out for Jaeger-LeCoultre's party celebrating their Rendez-Vous collection at the Venice Film Festival last night. Freida wore a black-and-gold gown with cutouts around the midriff, and Clive looked dapper in a tux. Both stars are making the rounds at festivals this year. She was in Cannes back in May to promote her Desert Dancer. Clive also hit Cannes for the premiere of his Hemingway & Gellhorn with costar Nicole Kidman. Clive's most recent project, Shadow Dancer, had its premiere in London earlier this month.
Stars came out to watch Ferragamo's Resort collection debut during the brand's fashion show held at the Louvre Museum in Paris yesterday. Leighton Meester, Freida Pinto, and Hilary Swank all wore looks from the designer, as did Karolina Kurkova and Virginie Ledoyen. Leighton switched gears to fashion after spending the last few weeks promoting her big-screen project with Adam Sandler, That's My Boy. She stopped by the MTV Movie Awards and Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this month to show off the film, which hits theaters Friday. Freida has also been busy with press for her latest acting efforts, and attended the Cannes Film Festival for Desert Dancer. Karolina was also on hand for the glamorous French event and also recently showed her style at the CFDA Awards.
Another day, another photocall for Freida Pinto at the Cannes Film Festival. Today, she tried out a two-piece Salvatore Ferragamo look, which showed off her midriff in a crop top to promote her new movie Desert Dancer. Freida is here for her work both on screen and off, as an ambassador for L'Oréal Paris. Freida made another daring fashion choice for the opening night of the festival, which you can check out in our mega gallery of all the Cannes celebrity pictures so far! We're also updating live from Cannes all festival long, so check out PopSugar on Twitter and stay tuned on PopSugar Rush for all the action.
This week in France, Freida Pinto has brought gorgeous makeup looks to the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival on several occasions already. The L'Oreal spokesmodel, who is with her fellow brand ambassadors Eva Longoria and Jane Fonda, has shared her beauty picks from the range, including Color Infallible Eyeshadow in L’Or Electric Metallic Lilac (£6.99) and Rouge Caresse Lipstick in Nude Ingeune (£7.99). The Slumdog Millionaire actress previously revealed how she also uses food to help achieve that gorgeous complexion, saying: "I make loads of fresh vegetable juices with coriander or pepper so that it's tastier. The concoction makes my skin glow and is good for the digestive system too". Shop Freida's cosmetics choices above, and let me know if you'll take the plunge and make vegetable juices too!
It's only the second day of the Cannes Film Festival, and we've already seen plenty of stars including Diane Kruger, Jessica Chastain, and Alec Baldwin. Today's premiere of Rust and Bone brought out the film's leading lady, Marion Cotillard, as well as castmembers Matthias Schoenaerts and young Armand Verdure. Marion looked glamorous in a black Christian Dior Couture ball gown after stepping out earlier in the afternoon in a pink dress for a photocall. Eva Longoria, who is attending the festival on behalf of L'Oréal, was also on hand this evening in a sexy white Emilio Pucci following a rooftop photo shoot this morning. Jane Fonda and Freida Pinto rounded out the fashionable red carpet, which is just one of many to come. The 2012 Cannes Film Festival opened today with the premiere of Moonrise Kingdom at the Palais des Festivals. Juror Diane Kruger was gorgeous in a pale blue gown after making an appearance this morning in a strappy Versus minidress. Eva Longoria, who is on hand with the festival's official makeup brand, L'Oréal, commanded the long red carpet in Marchesa. Jessica Chastain made her 2012 Cannes debut in white Alexander McQueen while Freida Pinto went with a pale pink strapless number. It's the beginning of more than a week of glamour in France and we're on the ground bringing you the action as it happens. Cosmopolitan magazine played hosted last night for their annual Fun and Fearless Awards at NYC's Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The year's big honorees were Dakota Fanning, in Miu Miu, and Paul Rudd, who earned the female and male titles, respectively. Additional honors went to The Hunger Games hunk Liam Hemsworth, Grey's Anatomy's Jesse Williams, 21 Jump Street's Jonah Hill, a YSL-clad Freida Pinto, NFL star Adrian Peterson, Pretty Little Liars' Lucy Hale, and a Chanel-wearing Rose Byrne. Both Jonah and Liam wore Ermenegildo Zegna.
We caught a moment with Liam on the red carpet, where he opened up about his big Hunger Games press tour. He spoke about the devoted fans of the series he's encountered so far, saying, "We had our first mall event the other day, and there were lots of screaming fans, and a few teary-eyed fans, which was interesting. Very nice and very flattering to see people that passionate about it." Dakota told us she's not familiar with Liam's franchise, but she's excited to see the film. As for a daring thing she's done lately, Dakota said, "Probably starting my Spring semester at college. That was probably the most fearless thing!" Make sure to check back later today for video of our interviews with Liam, Dakota, and the other attendees on PopSugar Rush.
