Last night in London, British fashionistas flocked to the Royal Academy of Arts for the UK's Creative Industries Reception as part of the GREAT Campaign. What with the Olympics, it was appropriate that several guests chose to wear a patriotic colour from the Union Jack. Model Lily Cole went for a bold red coatdress with floral heels, while Fearne Cotton wore a white loose number with matching bag and colour pop turquiose platforms, and Stella McCartney chose a blue trouser suit from her own collection. Kate Middleton, meanwhile, opted for a dove grey Roksanda Ilincic dress. Let me know which Brit had the best patriotic style!
Yesterday at Party in the Park in Leeds, Tulisa Contostavlos took to the stage in a pair Yohji Yamamoto for Adidas Y-3 Oriah Boots (now half-price at £218). The futuristic heels with skeleton details have also been spotted on Willow Smith, and are the latest in Tulisa's high heel trainer boots collection. The X Factor judge wore yellow Adidas wedges the day before for her performance in Liverpool, and donned a black, white and red pair of DKNY trainer heels at T4 On The Beach earlier this month. What do you think of the singer's festival shoe style?
This week in Oxfordshire, British jewellery designer Jade Jagger married her DJ beau Adrian Fillary in a wedding gown she designed herself. The 40-year-old daughter of Bianca and Sir Mick Jagger wed in front of an A-list fashion crowd including Christian Louboutin and Kate Moss wearing a scoop-neck white dress with diamond strap clasps that was one-of-a-kind since she dreamed up the creation herself.
The week before, Margherita Missoni also took sartorial matters into her own hands and, after consulting with Giambattista Valli on the couture elements, designed her bridal gown herself before handing over the Missoni silk and organza to be pieced together by tailors in Sumirago. Whilst most of us could only dream of such an opportunity, I'm interested to know whether you'd want to design your dress given the chance, or would you rather leave it to the experts?
The front rows at the Couture Fall 2012 shows in Paris this week were full to the brim with stylish stars, not least our British beauties. At the Chanel Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2012 show on Tuesday, Alexa Chung wore a navy sweater and classic Chanel tweed skirt while Poppy Delevingne went with a white blouse and denim skirt. Over at the Giorgio Armani Prive presentation, Anna Wintour donned a LWD while M.I.A. was in vintage Gianni Versace at the Versace catwalk on Sunday. Which British fashionista was most fab?
X Factor might have crowned Nicole Scherzinger the permanent fourth judge, but did the former Pussycat Doll beat all the other guest judges in the style stakes? Former winner Leona Lewis, Spice Girls Mel B and Geri Halliwell, Rita Ora and Anastacia all took their place behind the desk alongside Tulisa Contostavlos, Louis Walsh and Gary Barlow in a variety of gorgeous outfits. Take a look at them all here, and let me know which guest judge was most fab!
Today in London, all five members of the Spice Girls got together for the Viva Forever Musical launch, four years after they reunited for their tour. Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham showed off their different style choices as they posed at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, where they filmed the Wannabe video back in 1996. Posh Spice Victoria wore a military-inspired dress from her own her Autumn/Winter 2012 collection teamed with peep toe leather Louboutin boots, while Ginger Spice Geri also donned a piece from her own Geri for Next collection, a pink lace mini along with Jimmy Choos. Scary Spice Mel B went formal in a grey shift dress and spiked Louboutins, while Baby Spice Emma went for bright platform heels with a blue frock, and Sporty Spice Mel C wore a floaty white Acne dress that has also been seen on Kylie Minogue and Karen Gillan. Take a look at all five Spices' style here and tell me who looks most fab!
This weekend, the UK got fully into festival season with not one but two big music events — the Isle of Wight and BBC Radio 1 Hackney Weekend. Singers from both sides of the Atlantic brought their best on-stage style to Newport and Hackney Marshes, with Jessie J and Lana Del Rey hot footing it from the island to East London to sing at both bashes. Jessie J made a statement with her trousers at each performance, donning seriously ripped jeans on the Isle of Wight then a monochrome striped pair at Hackney Weekend, while Lana bared her legs in a pair of denim hot pants and fringe tshirt then a red bubble skirt dress. Rihanna chose short shorts too as she took to the London stage on Saturday and Sunday, while Leona Lewis bared her midriff, Rita Ora was head-to-toe prints and Florence Welch went for a waterfall hem gown. Take a look at them all here and tell me who was most fab!
Alexa Chung is single-handedly attempting to start a dress over shirt craze, being snapped wearing the unusual layering on three occasions over the last month. Last weekend, she wore a pineapple motif dress over a blue shirt to the Lou Dalton show at London Collections: Men, having donned a Christopher Kane ensemble similarly layered at the Scottish Fashion Awards just days before. Back in May, Alexa teamed her Marc Jacobs leather and purple floral print metallic dress with a crisp white shirt at the Met Gala. I'd love to know what you think of Alexa's kooky look, so vote below to let me know if you love it or would rather leave it!
This weekend, Kate Middleton wore four outfits for different social events, ranging from the oh-so formal to the country casual. On Friday, the Duchess of Cambridge looked smart as she watched The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe in a teal Zara dress and black Whistles jacket, accessorising with an Anya Hindmarch clutch. Her tailored style continued on Saturday at the Trooping the Colour celebrations at Buckingham Palace, where Kate wore an embellished silver-grey Erdem dress and a matching Jane Corbett hat. By Sunday, however, Kate switched into casual mode for a trip to the woods with primary school children. The Duchess donned leather-lined Le Chameau wellies with a Burberry shirt plus jeans and khaki jumper from Zara, and kept her look low-key at a charity polo match in Tetbury later that day. Click through to see Kate's contrasting looks from every angle, and tell me which you prefer!
This week, Kate Moss revealed she's ditched heels in favour of flats because she's always walking her pet pooch. The British model told Grazia that now she has a puppy, she's dressing for day rather than night because "you can’t do a dog in a heel!" It got me wondering whether your pets have influenced your wardrobe choices, so vote below to let me know!
