David Beckham Is Shirtless - and Wet - on the Cover of Elle UK

David Beckham is the first man to ever grace the cover of Elle UK, and in honor of the special occasion, he's shirtless and wet in the July 2012 issue! The full feature appears in the July issue of Elle UK, which goes on sale tomorrow. It's a special edition to coincide with the beginning of the Olympics in London, David's hometown. He's been especially active in hyping up the games, and even brought the Olympic flame to the UK earlier this month. In the magazine, David spoke about his dedication to soccer, not fame, and shed some light on his family life with wife Victoria, their sons, and nearly 1-year-old daughter Harper. Here's more from David Beckham in Elle UK:

On not setting out to be famous: "I never thought about the money, the fame. It never interested me, and it doesn't interest me now. None of that has ever excited me . . ."
On having a daughter now: "It's great. I love to bite her legs, or shoulders. It's how a baby should be. She's so beautiful. There's no more love for a daughter than there is a son, but it's just different. When they (boys) are kids you can roll them around and they fall to the sides and they pick themselves up and they're fine. Whereas Harper, now, she hits herself just slightly and she cries . . . I still think 'Oh God, I can't believe this, I've got a girl.' And to see the boys with her it's incredible. When they walk into the room, her little face lights up."
On catching up with his wife: "She comes home and shows me what she's been doing all day and what exciting dresses and bags she's got coming through. And then I say something boring like 'I got kicked today.' But we listen to each other. We try to go out at least once a week, just the two of us, a quiet dinner somewhere. It's not about wearing a nice dress or a nice suit. It's just going out and chatting and having some time together."

Kristen Stewart Looks Lovely on the June Cover of Elle UK

Kristen Stewart went retro for the June 2012 cover of Elle UK, shot by photographer David Slijper. The issue hits newsstands tomorrow, May 2. She wore Jil Sander for the front of the magazine, which is being released as part of Kristen's promotional tour for Snow White and the Huntsman. Kristen was in Las Vegas last week for CinemaCon to chat up the thriller with her costar Charlize Theron, ahead of its release on June 1 here in the US. Now, Kristen's had to switch gears to focus on another project. She traveled to Vancouver over the weekend to do Breaking Dawn reshoots alongside her Twilight - and real-life - love Robert Pattinson.

David Beckham Is Elle UK's First Solo Male Cover Star

David Beckham has got plenty of honours in his time, and now he's picked up a new fashion first as he's set to be Elle UK's first ever male cover star. The British footballer turned face of fashion will take centre stage on the British magazine's July 2012 issue celebrating the Olympics in London. Editor-in-Chief Lorraine Candy said:

"David Beckham is a national hero, so we saw an opportunity to shoot a celebratory cover to support an historical and patriotic year. This is a first for us on the newsstand and I believe he is loved by men and women alike. Anyway, who doesn't want to see a picture of one of the world's most handsome men on the front cover of a magazine?"

Becks himself says he's "honoured" and is preparing for his shoot as we speak. The team has flown out to Los Angeles and will be tweeting every detail as it happens on Twitter. I can't wait to see what he's wearing, are you excited to see David Beckham on the cover of Elle UK?

Newlywed Reese Witherspoon Opens Up About Ryan Phillippe, Dating, and Friendship in a Hot Elle UK Spread

Reese Witherspoon got serious and sexy for the May issue of Elle UK. The cover girl and newlywed, who just shared gorgeous pictures of her wedding day, is also gearing up for this month's release of Water For Elephants. She started promoting the project with an appearance at the Academy of Country Music Awards alongside costar Robert Pattinson last night, though she was more focused on her personal life when she sat down with the magazine. She spoke exclusively to Elle UK about her first marriage, the importance of her friendships, and how happy she is not to be dating in Hollywood. You can check out the full shoot, photographed by Ben Hassett, and the interview in the May issue, which is out this Wednesday. Here are highlights:

On her worst trait: "I'm a worrier. I worry a lot. I'm in my head a lot and I… worry. I know it's bad for me and I know I shouldn't do it, but I do. If I said I was quiet to any one of my friends, they'd be like, 'Are you kidding me?' but I get really lost in my thoughts. I like my alone time."
On dating: "I think dating is inherently complicated, anyway; what I do for a living makes it even more complicated. Let's just say I'm happy to not be dating. I met a wonderful man. I feel really, really lucky."
On her first marriage to Ryan Phillippe: "Oh, I was so, so young. I was, like, ridiculously young. I learned a lot, though. It was a good opportunity for me to really find out what it means to be a partner and to be in a marriage and it's not anything that I thought it was. You can't say, 'I don't want to talk about that' [to your partner]. You just can't. You've got to talk about it all."
On her friendships: "Friendships are work. You can only have a friend if you are a friend. You've got to be there. I really want to be the person who shows up for people when they need me. The friends I do have are very, very important to me."
On her career: "When you make movies you have no idea what people are going to like, or if they're going to like it; if your career this year is going to be great or if next year nobody is going to want to see you in a movie. You just don’t know."

Gwen Stefani looks stunning on the cover of April's Elle magazine, and inside talks exclusively and candidly to Shirley Manson about her busy life, workout regime, family, fashion, No Doubt and Brit culture as well as much more. Take a look behind the scenes at her shoot - here are some interview highlights:

On her workout regime: "It’s a daily struggle. I work out five days a week, I can’t imagine not doing it. I’d like to have no rules and eat what I want, but I’ve learned over the years that I’m so disappointed when I can’t wear the clothes I want to wear. And if I let myself down, appear on stage when I’m not looking my best, it’s not fun for me. I just beat myself up about it."
On British culture: "It’s really weird becoming a part of it, because I was always such a fan! When I discovered music, it was all about the UK… Madness, The Specials, UB40, Depeche Mode, The Cure and all of that 1980s music that I worship. The music that they wrote was so English, it was so about their world, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. When you grow up in Orange County, you never think you’ll go there. The fact that I ended up with this English guy is really weird. I don’t know how that happened."

Keira Knightley Talks Being a Technophobe & Managing Her Busy Work Schedule in Elle

Keira Knightley found time in her busy schedule to speak exclusively to Elle ahead of the release of Never Let Me Go, and looks stunning on the March 2011 cover. Check out the behind the scenes video. Keira's also on stage in the West End at the moment, and she discussed that too - here are some highlights:

On managing her work schedule: "I was literally going from job to job to job to job and any time off in between was promoting a job, or preparing for the next job. And it was exactly what I thought I wanted at the time and then I realised that I’d sort of hit a brick wall. I knew I wasn’t taking anything in. . . There’s this strange thing where I feel incredibly privileged and I think I have an incredible amount of guilt about that. And so I thought I had to work all the time."
On being a technophobe: "I can’t get rid of books. It’s almost like having your thoughts [around you]. I want to be able to hold it. I want to be able to see where the pages have been turned down. I grew up in a house full of books. Wall to wall. I remember when I moved out of home, that was the big thing that I couldn’t handle: there weren’t any books. Every inch of my mum’s house is covered in them and not having any was like, 'This is really weird. This is such a sterile space without any stories in it.’"
On not owning a TV: "It’s that I’m the laziest f***er in the entire world. It’s true. And stagnation is always really, really imminent. I can literally just sit and not do anything for hours and hours and hours and if there is something completely mind-numbing to do, like surfing the internet or watching crappy TV, I’ll do it and then I’ll feel s*** about myself. So I try and get rid of it. A lot of my friends don’t have TVs, either. It might be spreading. But what’s nice is that when I do see it, it’s such a treat. I did a photoshoot in Cornwall recently and a friend of mine was on the shoot and we literally just sat in my room watching Strictly Come Dancing. We were like, 'This is amazing.' We were talking about that for weeks afterwards."
On fashion: "I went to the Chanel show and I really enjoyed the theatre of it – this eight-mile-long catwalk, this huge orchestra and it was amazing. It was actually quite moving, and you think 'Wow, this is strange. How? Why?' But I think when you see a show like that you see the thought process behind it. And I – I’ve only been to two shows [the other was Chanel couture] – but I really enjoy that."
On why she decided to return to the stage: "... because I really noticed [in The Misanthrope] what I couldn’t do and what I failed at. I’m just not interested in standing still. You go, 'OK, that was great and that bit was great – that’s, um, great.' But if I’m not getting better, not learning, not changing, then what’s the point of it? It must be boring for people to watch it if it’s always the same."

Cheryl Cole Gets Candid With Elle About Coping, Her Confidence & Being Competitive

Cheryl Cole's been sunning herself in South Africa with Derek Hough lately, and she looks just as gorgeous on the February cover of Elle magazine. She's opened up to the magazine about negative opinions, her rollercoaster 2010 as well as Simon Cowell's opinion of her. Take a look behind the scenes of her photoshoot, and here's some excerpts from her interview:

On negative opinion: "I have taken so much s*** that I’ve stopped listening to other people. I have had enough. There’s only so much you can cope with and then you either allow it to swallow you up or you say, 'Sod this. I have had it with negativity and bitchiness.' I want people to like my music but I couldn’t give a s*** about what they think of me. Take it or leave it. I do not care."
On her competitive nature: "Simon [Cowell] says I’m the most competitive person he’s ever met, but I’d never try to get ahead at somebody else’s expense. People are always pulling other people down to make themselves feel better, but thinking positive, feeling positive: it just brings so much difference to your life."
On public perception that she's coped well: "It’s very much a perception. And that can be frustrating at times, especially when somebody you’ve never seen before approaches you in a restaurant toilet with an opinion on your marriage. Nobody knows what I went through behind closed doors. Nobody knows what it was like when I was on my own. Of course I held myself together in public. Who wouldn’t? Do people want me to throw myself on the street and weep?"
On who she is now: "It’s all about performance. But I find it really hard to be somebody else. It’s unhealthy to think of yourself as a brand, or to refer to yourself in the third person. I can’t turn on a separate character or inhabit a different mental space. I am who I am and I can’t pretend to somebody else.I’ve learned a lot about myself and how I feel. I’ve learned how I would approach things differently. But it’s not something that I find easy to analyse. I’ve lived through all this. It’s difficult to find perspective."

On her confidence: "My confidence has never hit such an all-time low as it has this last year. It feels really bad. I’ve always been self-critical but… I don’t look at pictures of myself. I can’t. I used to be able to, back in the beginning. It’s not about how you look. though, but how you feel inside. I’m getting there again, but it’s a process. At least I can say I’m happy with my morals and with myself as a person."
On her future: "Everything happens for a reason. I really do think so. The reasons will come to me in time. There are people who literally have nothing left when they go through divorce. I’ve still got hope. I haven’t got children to worry about or other lives that I’m messing with. Everything I’m dealing with is very much about myself. My own demons; my own feelings. People who have been in my situation tell me that it’s taken them a long time, it’s been a long struggle and by no means are they over it – but they know why it happened. I can’t wait to get to that point. I’m sure there are reasons. I don’t know what they are yet, but I’ve got to believe it. I’ve got to! The one thing I would love is to just feel settled one day. It’d be nice to take six months out and go to a mountain top and just meditate, let myself go, but taking a night off to eat in a restaurant where everybody wants a picture? I can’t always be on show. Am I a workaholic? No. Well, maybe. It’s kind of all I’ve known for the past 10 years. I don’t know anything else."
On music: "Music is everything to me. More than anything, I love making music. Nobody can ever take that away from me. I don’t want to sing something I don’t feel. Of course there’s a sense of putting yourself out there to be criticised, and that’s OK when it’s music. When it’s personal, it’s very different."

Carey Mulligan Tells Elle She Believes in Love At First Sight and Hates Her Signature Hair

Carey Mulligan spoke exclusively to Elle magazine, and looks chic as ever on the January issue's cover. Take a look behind the scenes at her shoot! She maintains that she believes in love at first sight, hates her distinctive short hair, and reveals that her BAFTA award is "under a pile of jumpers in a cupboard", and speaks a little about Never Let Me Go, which is released on Feb. 11. Here are some excerpts from her interview in which she talks about her ex Shia LaBeouf, her image, and Hollywood:

On her hair: "I hate my hair. After An Education, I had a small part in Michael Mann’s film Public Enemies, and he wanted me to dye it white blonde and it wrecked my hair. Literally, ruined it. It was falling apart, fried. So I had to cut it off. I cried."
On looking glam: "I’m not trying to sell myself as a visual. I’m selling my willingness to play a part really well. If your body doesn’t look normal, how can you convey normal people, how can you be relatable?"
On the pains of losing weight for a part: "Weetabix for breakfast, soup for lunch and salad for dinner. 'No, I will not have that glass of wine! Put that pizza away!’ It was not fun. I look back and it’s really, really not worth depriving yourself. I was very thin at the beginning of An Education and I remember the scene where I’m dancing and you can see my spine. Yuck. I would never want to be so thin that someone would think it was a good idea to be thin, and make themselves miserable. I know this sounds w***y, but I would never want to set a bad example, basically."
On Shia LaBeouf: "I always wanted to work with him, above and beyond anything else, because I thought he was so amazing in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. . . I don’t want to meet all these amazing people, that’s not the thrill – I want to work with them."

On her image: "I’ve never felt like a sexy person… I’ve always felt like a sensible person. I’ve always felt absurd wearing anything revealing. I’ve always felt different here [in Hollywood]. I remember going up for auditions, walking into rooms of girls in denim minis, with cut-off tank tops, tanned legs, long hair and manicures, thinking, 'Erm…'. But it never made me feel bad. I’ve never felt pressure to look like that."
On Botox and medical advice "I said, 'I have some lines here under my eye and they’re annoying, what can you do?' He looked at my face and said, “We’ll just drop some Botox in here, and here…' I said, 'What the f***? I’m only 25; are you joking?' So I can’t move my face? Isn’t that, well, the antithesis of what I’m trying to do as an actress? Only in LA would someone try and give you Botox when you’re 25 years old."
On spending the day with Warren Beatty: "Walking along the beach at Malibu, with him telling me crazy stories about Marilyn Monroe and Natalie Wood. Once you meet him your entire day is Warren. The first time we met I was really nervous, but we hung out for seven hours. He’s fascinating. He’s been part of this world since before it was celebrity obsessed, since “famous” had a different meaning. . . It’s very equal. He doesn’t treat me like a young person."
On her competitive streak: "I’ll be in agony when I watch The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo… I auditioned for it, but I didn’t get the part."
