Topshop's Eco-Friendly Reclaim to Wear Collaboration Launches Today — See the Collection in Full

Topshop's collaborations are coming thick and fast, with its collection with Reclaim To Wear launching today.

Topshop's collaborations are coming thick and fast, with its collection with Reclaim To Wear launching today. Orsola de Castro and Filippo Ricci's eco fashion label has teamed up with the high street brand to create a debut upcycled capsule range made from discarded materials, like production off-cuts and surplus stock. The eight pieces are made from Topshop's staple materials of jersey, cotton and denim, and feature a tiered blouse in mixed fabrics, a colour block panel maxi dress, grey marl sweater with mismatching sleeves and a trio of ombre denim pieces including boy shorts, faded jeans and a slouchy rucksack. Orsola said:

"This is the first step towards the creation of zero waste design collections. I trust that the Topshop team’s commitment to new sustainable solutions will lead to the reconsidering of consumption versus disposal throughout the whole fashion industry supply chain."

Topshop hopes to scale the project and apply what it's learnt across a broader section of the supply chain next time. Take a look here, and tell me which is your favourite piece!

Livia Firth Launches Eco Age Boutique in Time for Earth Day

On Friday, Livia Firth unveiled the new worldwide Eco Age Boutique for brands that advocate ethical fashion.

On Friday, Livia Firth unveiled the new worldwide Eco Age Boutique for brands that advocate ethical fashion. Livia, who is married to English actor Colin Firth, has personally tracked down designers, scouted new talent and got up close and personal with the items. She said:

"Each brand on sale here is a serious advocate for a better fashion system and fashion landscape. Each piece has values and ethics as well as a huge amount of style and panache. Like me, you will be proud to wear these pieces and store them in your cupboard for a lifetime."

Livia, whose new site is powered by Italian-based etailer Yoox, told the Daily Telegraph: "Most of the designers we stock are tiny and by the time we found them, they were closing their orders. But we've got some great stuff and next season it's really strong." Take a look at my picks from the newly launched site, and let me know what you think of eco fashion.

2010 Autumn London Fashion Week: Prophetik

London's Freemason hall was well and truly rocked on Friday afternoon as US label Prophetik launched in the UK.

London's Freemason hall was well and truly rocked on Friday afternoon as US label Prophetik launched in the UK. Designed by poet and ex-musician Jeff Garner the collection was made entirely from sustainable fabrics and dyed using vegetables! There was a civil war theme to the pieces which were made from organic cotton, corduroy, hemp, reused silk and greenspun (a fabric created from recycled bottles).

Although there was a definite military theme running through the collection, there was also a bit of a '70s Woodstock feel with dresses and boots that wouldn't look out of place at this Summer's festivals. The show was accopanied by live music beginning with folk music before ex-Sex Pistol and ex-Def Leppard musicians performed rock classics as Man Raze. The ethical label is to be stocked at Livia Firth's boutique Eco Age in Chiswick, West London.

Red Carpet

Livia Firth Wants a Greener Carpet

Whilst most of us are just getting to grips with eco fashion and giving ourselves a pat on the back for choosing second hand rather than High Street, Livia Firth is upping the stakes.

Whilst most of us are just getting to grips with eco fashion and giving ourselves a pat on the back for choosing second hand rather than High Street, Livia Firth is upping the stakes. The wife of Colin made an impressive statement on the red carpet at the Golden Globes as she wore not just an eco friendly gown, but a "re-purposed" wedding dress.

Livia runs an environmentally friendly boutique, Eco Age in West London and explained all about her gown on her Vogue blog, "The re-purposed Christiana Couture wedding dress was a HUGE success in the sense that I don't think I’ve ever had so many compliments for a dress in one night." Her eco stance has now landed her the role of reporting on the carbon footprint of dresses throughout award season.

It seems like celebrities better choose their dresses very carefully in 2010 or risk being named and shamed. Are you impressed by Livia's efforts to help the environment yet remaining chic?

Fab Blab: Emma Watson On Her People Tree Line

Emma Watson is the latest in a long line of celebrities to design a clothing line.

Emma Watson is the latest in a long line of celebrities to design a clothing line. Emma joins names like Lily Allen, Kate Moss and Madonna, but there is something that makes her line stand out from the crowd.

The Harry Potter actress has been working with ethical retailer People Tree and explained why, “I think young people like me are becoming increasingly aware of the humanitarian issues surrounding fast fashion and want to make good choices but there aren’t many options out there.”

The collection has been described as, "Hollister jersey blended into American Apparel basics, and topped off with humorous slogans". The collaboration launches in late February and will be available from ASOS and People Tree.
