As far as cult beauty buys go Benefit's Badgal Lash mascara, (£14.50), has long been a contender for the prize for the best mascara out there. If you want big, bad lashes in the darkest coal black this is your girl. Now in the wake of the coloured mascara trend, they've launched a version in deep plum.

Once thought of as a terrible beauty crime, coloured mascara is making something of a comeback. Witness celebrities like Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Princess Eugenie working the coloured lashes look (albeit with fakes). Mascara in shades ranging from flattering navy blue and deep brown to this season's plum and dark olive, are back on the beauty agenda.

Get excited, because as of yesterday, the new Summer Nautical Collection from Bobbi Brown is available. This limited-edition, sheer makeup range consists of six cheek tints, six lip glosses, a new mascara and a seven-pan pastel powder eye shadow palette. Of course the cheek tints (£15.66) can also be used on your eyes and lips (I'm especially kvelling over the bright, pink and coral shades) to create flushed cheeks and just-bitten, wet-looking lips.

Last night at the Metroplitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute Gala, British model Agyness Deyn took a nod from Marilyn Monroe when constructing her beauty look. Her silver dress and platinum hair was a clear shout of to Old Hollywood, and her makeup also reflected a classical beauty look with hints of edgy and sexy as a modern twist (note her structured smoky eyes).
For step by step instructions and product suggestions on how you can re-create Aggy's look at home, read more

For those of you who like to match your lips and your nails, poppy lipstick is making a strong statement this Spring. In the past week alone we've seen Jodie Kidd model new St. Tropez tanning products, Chloë Sevigny attended the Chloe Los Angeles Boutique opening and Alexis Bledel went to a Tribeca Film Festival premiere, all with a bright and flirty poppy pout.

Last night in New York City, Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively arrived at the Ed Sullivan Theater to make an appearance on The David Letterman Show. Looking stunning and leggy in a bright pink mini-dress, Blake's hair also glittered under the city lights with perfect highlights and voluminous layers.
However, what I loved most about her look was her makeup.

Catching up with Somerset born, five foot eleven model Olivia Inge after the Ashley Isham Show was one of the the highlights of this season's fashion week for me.
Whilst the high-spirited, fiesty model and socialite was getting a glossy, deep purple manicure (Nails Inc's Belgravia Place — of course I had to ask), we chatted about the first time she wore makeup (clubbing one night in South Africa), her contributing editor's role on her sister's Cult Beauty Website, her t-shirt that had a photo of two bare breasts on it and all about her deep, dark beauty secrets.
To find out Olivia's favourite products, her first experience with makeup and to see a gallery of photographs throughout the years, read more

TheBalm strikes again with another fabulous, two-in-one product! New to America and due here in the UK next month is Down Boy, a pink powder blusher with a hint of shimmer that can also double as an eye shadow.
It's the perfect pink to match most skin tones as it's not too bright or too light.
