Lee Alexander McQueen's death earlier this year is still sending ripples of sadness through the fashion world. Yesterday would have been his 41st birthday (check out a fab round up of his Spring pieces here) and the Council Of Fashion Designers Of America used the occasion to announce another tribute.
The British designer's final collection was shown at Paris Fashion Week earlier this month and his will now be awarded with a CFDA's special board of directors honour.

The highly anticipated Burberry show took place last night with an all star front row (you can vote on your best dressed here). The collection was inspired by aviation, but was was still steeped in Burberry tradition and heritage. It was streamed around the world in 3D and was the second time the brand returned to the British capital.

The whole world is going crazy for 3-D right now. Avatar is one of the most successful uses of it so far and has already collected several awards and nominations, but the method is now taking over on a larger scale. This weekend, the six nations rugby was shown in 3-D at select locations and now Burberry has announced plans to stream it's Autumn '10 show around the world in three dimensions.

This evening, the British Fashion Awards took place in London. There were a lot of stylish fashionistas present to celebrate some of the hardest working names in the fashion industry. The big award went to Christopher Bailey for Burberry who was presented with designer of the year by Victoria Beckham.

The 2009 British Fashion Awards are taking place this evening at the Royal Courts of Justice in London. The event hosted by the British Fashion Council celebrates some of the biggest names in the industry. There is extra excitement this year as London marks 25 years as a fashion capital.

The 2009 British Fashion Awards take place this evening (you can see a full list of nominees here) and with just hours to go, the British Fashion Council have announced a list of the 25 most powerful in the industry. The list was chosen by a panel which included British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman and contains both household names (Kate Moss, Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith) and lesser known industry insiders (Lulu Kennedy, Louis Wilson and Joan Burnstein) highlighting the size and impact of fashion.
It's also interesting how many of the people mentioned have been knighted proving the importance of the industry as a whole to the UK.

Burberry isn't interested in the credit crunch. The British brand has continually reported a growth in sales throughout the economic downturn and Christopher Bailey, along with CEO Angela Ahrendts, has been a big factor in this. It has one of the biggest budgets for advertising and yet still made the slightly risky decision to return home during London Fashion Week to show one of the most talked about lines for Spring 2010.

Vogue tried to boost the fashion industry around the globe last night by hosting the worldwide Fashion's Night Out. British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman joined forces with Burberry to host a party in London which attracted many stars of the London fashion scene. Last night, Esquire magazine held at party at Somerset House (the venue for London Fashion Week come September) to celebrate their new exhibition – The Singular Suit. The exhibit contains pieces by 18 different design houses including Paul Smith, Gucci and Aquascutum. Stylish men and women alike partied at the event whilst also posing near some of the displays.
