Fashion expert Caryn Franklin attended The Clothes Show yesterday in London (something that she used to be most famous for. Whilst her ruffled electric blue dress certainly caught my eye (she's such a sharp dresser), I simply couldn't avert my eyes from her hair. I realise that her grey on chestnut brown hair hues aren't new, but it always gives me pause when I think about how she opts for this two-toned palette each time she visits the salon.

In the first part of our exclusive interview with fashion expert Caryn Franklin she shared her views on London Fashion Week's creative approach and the designers to watch this season. Here she chats to me about how the shows have changed since the 80's and how celebrity culture has affected what we want to wear.
Q: How has London Fashion Week changed since you first started out?

Fashion expert Caryn Franklin has been doing her bit to encourage young designers at London Fashion Week. With an illustrious fashion career that includes being Fashion Editor of i-D magazine in the early 80's; Caryn is most famous for her work as the presenter on The Clothes Show from 1986 until 2000. Nowadays Caryn acts as an expert for GMTV as well as various magazines and websites.

During September's London Fashion Week there was a lot of talk of the future of fashion in the British capital following rumours that New York wanted to overlap their dates. This resulted in the launch of the British Fashion Fund backed by Sir Philip Green and, it seems, the subsequent saving of London Fashion Week!
Yesterday the dates for the Autumn/Winter 2009 shows were released allowing London to have a full five days to showcase the best of the city's talent.

And so Graduate Fashion Week is over for another year as the graduates go off in to the fashion design world and attempt to make their mark. There has been some exceptional talent on show this year so even being shortlisted is a tremendous honour. Caryn Franklin hosted the awards with three main prizes up for grabs, the River Island Gold Award, Zandra Rhodes Catwalk Textiles Award and the Pringle of Scotland Visionary Knitwear Award.
