Butter London is known for its punchy polish colors, so it was only a matter of time before the brand released an equally colorful makeup collection. And with long-wear eyeliner, fluorescent-hued mascaras, and vibrant lip colors, the Bespoke Color Cosmetics Collection does not disappoint. We're showing you our favorite pieces from the lineup so you can make your shopping list before the collection launches in the UK in early 2014.
Amp up your striking white nail varnish look with gold studs at the base for a simple but impactful touch. Opaque white nails packs quite the punch, but it also tends to show mistakes a lot more than other hues. So to make sure it looks its best, first file your nails for a perfect shape and trim your cuticles to ensure clean lines around the edges.
To create the look, I started off with Butter London Nail Fertilizer (£18.50) as a nutrient-rich base coat. Then, I painted on two coats of Chanel Le Vernis in Eastern Light (£18) for pure white coverage. While the varish was still wet, I added a gold stud from Topshop Nail Rockits Stud (£10) a three way nail art pen, nail polish and 3D studs. To finish, I topped this look with Essie Good to Go (£8.99) to seal in the stud and give my nails a glossy finish. If you have any messy edges, go back with a brush dipped in polish remover to clean up any stray marks or lines.

This is the year of royal wedding mania, and Kate Middleton's bridal style will undoubtedly be noted by millions of women around the world. Her upcoming nuptials to Prince William have already inspired Butter London's latest creation, a nail polish called No More Waity, Katie. The shade, a greige with lilac glitter, will be available for preorder on March 15 at butterlondon.com. I've seen only small pictures of it so far, but we tracked down a larger one that better illustrates the color. If you're so inclined, have a look.
Butter London is one of those beauty brands that is fast becoming cult property. Although the company is actually based in Seattle, it offers a thoroughly British experience with quirky names such as Old Blighty and Chimney Sweep. Their creative director, Nonie Creme has worked on numerous A-list nails, including Kate Moss, as well as creating looks on campaigns for Vogue, H&M, and Jimmy Choo. This is one nail polish brand with serious fashion credentials.
I'm also pleased to note that it's not all about image. Butter London has a strong commitment to making non-toxic polishes. All of the polishes are free of the "big three" — toluene, DBP, and formaldehyde. It's a relief to know you needn't worry about toxicity in the quest to be beautiful.
In terms of colours, these are bang on-trend. After checking out my girl Bella US's favourite shades, I found it very hard to choose between Butter London's gothic glam black, patriotically called Union Jack Black and the royal looking HRH. I plumped for HRH, which is a rich purple that has a fantastic sheen. For how the varnish stood the test of time, just read more
Model Jodie Kidd and pop star Christina Milian have both been spotted mixing it up, lately. Christina has been contrasting very dark and pale colours together as well as different shades of brights.
Meanwhile Jodie has been photographed with four different neon shades on her nails, for a bright lights, bold colour effect.
I'm not sure if this is going to catch on outside of Fashion Week and possibly Shoreditch, but with the latest autumn/winter beauty trends mixing the punk with the polished, it could be fun to literally try and combine trends. Just read more
This season we're descending to the dark side for inspiration.
Chanel sent out grunge goths with washed-out skin and matted hair, whilst the Yves Saint Laurent models had blood-bitten, black or burgendy stained lips and Viktor & Rolf's girls sported almost cartoonish black ringed eyes.
This is a far cry from the teenage goth looks of yore. Soft Goth or Goth Glam, is a polished, prettier version of the tough love goth vibe. If hair is going to be grungy – it should be artfully, not unwash-edly, matted – while skin may be pale, but it has a super natural, translucent glow that whispers money and good grooming.
