The bob is a classic hairstyle that always seems to find its way back into the mainstream year after year, and 2011 was no exception. Even some of the biggest pop stars in the world like Cheryl Cole and Katy Perry donned sexy asymmetrical versions of the bob, whilst television and film stars like Emily Blunt, Dianna Agron and Fearne Cotton also sported more traditional bobs. Out of these five looks, whose do you like most?
The bob hairstyle is one that we've seen over the years and it never seems to go out of style. This season, there are five beautiful ladies sporting a bob who range in age and beauty styles. Take a peek at Denise Van Outen, Naomi Campbell, Emily Blunt, Katy Perry and Ali Larter and let me know which version of their bobs you like best.
Over the weekend at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Los Angeles, actresses Ali Larter and Jaime King showed off their tanned skin and new blond bobs on the red carpet. Jaime's is styled in such a way that it looks shorter than it really is here, as the back is tucked under and pinned. I love the wisps of delicate butter-coloured hair on the sides, and the way the shape shows off her face and shoulders. As for Ali, the new mommy has seemingly cut off her long locks for this shorter, easy-to-manage style that still looks fresh and fashionable. Out of these two ladies, whose blond bob do you prefer?
Singer Pixie Lott and television presenters Fearne Cotton and Denise van Outen are three beautiful British babes who have chopped off their long blond locks in favour of a classic bob. Their pale hair colour makes this style stand out and even though this haircut has been around the block before, somehow a significant chop like this manages to keep hair looking modern and healthy. Would you ever don a blond bob?
With Cheryl Cole just making the chop to her long, albeit, extended hair, I'm really warming up to the uneven, beachy bob look for Summer. It's kind of a carefree twist on Posh's old asymmetrical bob, and I like how these ladies are letting go a bit. What do you think of this season's latest hairstyle?
On Saturday evening, popstar Cheryl Cole celebrated her 28th birthday at The Sanderson Hotel in London surrounded by friends and family. Despite how you may feel about the buzz surrounding Cheryl and Ashley's reconciliation, I happen to think her hair is a fun change from her long, chestnut colour and curls that we've gotten used to seeing her sport over the past couple years. What do you think of Chezza's new chop?
Last night at Glamour Magazine's Women of the Year Awards in London, TV presenter Fearne Cotton wore a shiny yellow Miu Miu frock and showed off her new platinum blond bob. I think the style and colour is a bit too pale for my taste. With Fearne's medium complexion, I quite like her blonde mixed in with warmer lowlights. What's your take on this style?
Glee star, Dianna Agron showed off her brand new chin-length bob over the weekend whilst performing at the Glee Live! In Concert! tour in the states. I loved her hair long, so I'm not mad about this cut, although it certainly does look healthy and frames her gorgeous face. I am however super excited for the concert that I'll be going to at the end of June here in London. What are your thoughts on Dianna's new hairdo?
It looks like Jennifer Aniston has made another modification to her long and ahhhh, perfect hair. This afternoon at the Just Go With It photocall in Madrid, she posed for pictures with co-stars Adam Sandler and Brooklyn Decker with a brand new long bob! I love this look on Jen, and it's one we're seen in years past on Friends, however her hair was a more toffee brown colour then. What do you think of Jen's cute cut?
For her latest ad campaign for Mango's Spring 2011 collection, Scarlett Johansson looks amazing wearing a perfectly textured, totally fresh take on the classic haircut. While we've seen Scarlett sporting lots of different styles and colors in past Mango ads before, it's Scarlett's shoulder-grazing bob I'm coveting most, and here's why: in lieu of being too structured, its shattered ends give the cut lots of movement and a fashionable edge and are easy to tousle for a completely different look. I also love how lighter panels of color placed between the darker top and bottom layers give the illusion of volume. For even more versatility, clip-in blunt bangs would take this look to a whole new level. And that's why I think there's something about this bob. See more from Scarlett's Mango ad campaign below:
