Even if the rest of the week's events were (by comparison) a more routine series of premieres and parties, looks from Nicole Richie, Emily Blunt, and Lily Aldridge proved just as noteworthy. For the sleekest kind of eventwear, Nicole supplied a cool white and black combo. Lily Collins was an ethereal beauty in Valentino, Carey Mulligan embraced the metallic trend in a Prada paillette dress and Florence Welch stood out in Alexander McQueen. Victoria Beckham wore a greige, tight number, whilst Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was dressed in an Antonio Berardi gown paired with Harry Winston jewellery and a Jimmy Choo clutch. In a recent Harper's Bazaar UK fashion poll, Kate Middleton landed this year's top spot for best dressed. With her savvy polished style and mix of High Street and designer duds, it's no wonder that she's making headlines and has such grand appeal to the people.

I quite like Kate's approachable style; however, beating out Kate Moss, Alexa Chung, and Emma Watson leaves me a bit puzzled. The judges on the fashion panel included clothing designers Antonio Berardi and Roksanda Ilincic, milliner Philip Treacy, and editors Lucy Yeomans and Kim Hersov. They said, "There wasn’t really any question in our minds here about who was number one. The Duchess of Cambridge gave us the fashion moment of the year if not the century with that amazing wedding dress."

With that argument, it's difficult to disagree. I am sure LK Bennett's court shoes and clutches have already been selling like hotcakes. Others in the running for best dressed included Florence Welch, Andrea Riseborough, and, of course, Kate Moss. What do you think of Kate reigning as the number-one best dressed Brit?

Last night's Inside Soap Awards took place in London after the rain had finally dissipated. The ladies of the silver screen lined the red carpet in glamorous gowns of all different colours, looking beautiful and coiffed as expected. Nicola McLean wore a floor-length cream gown and Brooke Vincent from Coronation Street wore a black one-shoulder body-con dress whilst Natalie Anderson from Emmerdale donned a crimson strapless cocktail dress. Other ladies in black included Tanya Franks from EastEnders wore a sheer, stripey tunic and pants and Michelle Keegan from Coronation Street wore a drapey dress with a big black bow to cinch her waist.
