Despite the feelings of doom and gloom that are settling as we face up to the credit crunch, it seems we're very reluctant to let our beauty regimes suffer. According to new research, women are choosing to cut back on their food costs to pay for cosmetics and beauty products as the credit crunch rumours become reality.
Nearly one in three women, which is the equivalent to eight million nationwide, would prefer to eat less than curtail their spending on what we all seem to see as must-have essential beauty items.

Grunge goth beauty was never supposed to be about the money, so what's with this season's Glam Goth makeup looks (not to mention clothes, thanks Luella) costing so much? I'm not one for scrimping and saving on makeup, but as we are sliding into a recession it makes sense to worry our pretty little heads about prices, every now and then.
Cue my credit crunch-friendly pick of the best products to get autumn/winter's soft goth look, on the cheap.

I just love it when I find a good bargain, especially on beauty products during the expensive holiday season. My good pal, BellaSugar US is also a fan of scouting out deals and she's found quite a few high street or chemist products that look just like designer ones!
So when I saw these amazing Treaclemoon Bath and Shower Gels that sell for £2.89, I was so excited, as they have an uncanny resemblance in both their fragrances and packaging to the Philosopy versions that sell for £13.60.

Time to stock up on some beauty goodies – the Harrods summer sale has begun with Sex And The City's Kim Cattrall getting it off to a glamorous start, yesterday. Until the 26th July, there is up to 50% off my favourite beauty brands such as Le Prairie, Cowshed and Pout.
Beauty sales are such a good excuse to splash out on high-end brands that you might not normally buy.

If you're feeling the credit crunch, don't fret – it is possible to look groomed and glamorous, on a shoe string budget.
Good old Boots have come up with the goods for nailing next season's trends, while staying in the black.
They've just launched a new line of sheer lipsticks in the Natural Collection brand.

Some of the best-kept secrets amongst beauty journalists are the spas and hotels in Cape Town, South Africa. For the price of a blow dry in London (£30-£40) you can get top notch head-to-toe treatments that will leave you glowing. My favourite is the gorgeous spa at the Steenberg; the oldest farm in the Cape, Constantia Valley.

Sometimes it seems the oldies really are the best. Classic skincare brand Pond's is one of the few labels that is actually benefiting from the credit crunch. While people stop stocking up on fashion and expensive hair accessories, the beauty industry is still saying it hasn't felt the pinch yet.
