Back to Cool: Mean Girls

Mean Girls isn't a Christmas film per se but when thinking about dressing up in a festive theme, I can't help but think of Lindsay Lohan et al singing 'Jingle Bell Rock'. The four girls sing and dance on stage at the school's Winter talent show in very inappropriate (for school) festive costumes. They wear knee high heeled boots and black satin gloves to round off the look. If you're attending a fancy dress party this year and are feeling brave then why not copy the look below?

Audrey Hepburn

Back to Cool: Funny Face

On a rainy day (and in England there are many) I love nothing more than putting on an old, classic movie and cosing up to watch it in a big oversized jumper.

On a rainy day (and in England there are many) I love nothing more than putting on an old, classic movie and cosing up to watch it in a big oversized jumper. One of Bella UK and my favourite movies is Funny Face starring Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire. In the film Hepburn (Jo) faces a make-over as she is chosen as a model for a shoot in Paris alongside Astaire (Dick). There is a lot of dancing in the film as Hepburn wears her trademark flats and cigarette pants with a roll neck jumper. See below to copy her Funny Face style.

Back to Cool: Clarissa Explains It All

There's a bit of a '90s revival currently taking place both on the screen and on the catwalk.

There's a bit of a '90s revival currently taking place both on the screen and on the catwalk. The recent US return of Beverly Hills 90210 may leave you digging out your stonewashed denim or it might leave you hoping they will bring back more classic TV like Blossom or Clarissa Explains It All!

I was always a fan of Clarissa's (played by Melissa Joan Hart) style not least because she seemed able to wear anything and still look cool! It was in the heyday of the floppy hat, oversized shirts and the infamous scrunchy!

Here I have pulled together some items to copy Clarissa's style and to prove that seeing as all of these items are currently available, surely it's on trend to dress like her again?!

Liv Tyler

Back to Cool: Empire Records

With the current '90s grunge revival comes Dr Martens, tartan skirts and big knitted jumpers.

With the current '90s grunge revival comes Dr Martens, tartan skirts and big knitted jumpers. When I see this look I can't help but think of classic '90s movie Empire Records starring Liv Tyler as Corey.

Corey is a bit clueless but adored by the oh-so-cute A.J. even though she's lusting after rock star Rex Manning. I like Corey's cute take on grunge with tiny kilt and fluffy cropped jumper.

There's a lot of tartan around at the moment following it appearance on the catwalk at D&G and House of Holland.

Here's a way to copy her style.

Back to Cool: Annie Hall

The costume designer for Annie Hall, Ruth Morley, essentially created androgynous dressing for women.

The costume designer for Annie Hall, Ruth Morley, essentially created androgynous dressing for women. Ok, not literally but Diane Keaton's title character shows how women can wear mens style clothes and still look stylish.

This season as chinos sneak back in to fashion Annie's style is relevant once again.

See below for a way to copy her signature androgynous look.
