The Top 20 Updo's From The Golden Globes
I would presume, the rain had something to do with last night's Golden Globes hair styling choices, but every time I turned around there was another updo on the red carpet. From Nicole Kidman's side-swooping chignon, to Sandra Bullock's hocus pocus bob and Heather Graham and Mariah Carey's décolleté, err, I mean sleek and pretty ponytails, the hairstyle of the evening was definitely practical, intricate, and helped to showcase the gorgeous baubles and dresses of the night. Trend Alert: Umbrellas and Updo's at The BAFTAs
All of the nominees who chose to walk tonight's BAFTA Awards red carpet wearing their hair up came out on top. About halfway through the glamorous coverage, the skies opened up and the rains came pouring down. Luckily, umbrellas and willing assisants were there to shield the dresses, tuxedo's and all of the hard work of makeup artists and hair dressers.

Last night's BAFTA Awards provided plenty of glamour as most of the ladies opted for maxi dresses (perhaps a sign of the economic times). However, another trend emerged as several of the girls opted for mermaid shaped dresses. Penelope Cruz revealed her shoulders in an Alaia dress with Chopard jewels.

Actress Amy Adams stood out on the red carpet in a periwinkle Roland Mouret gown. I love that she opted for colour on such a gloom and doom day. Her red hair was pulled back in a low knot and her retro eyes were lined with thick kohl liner and false lashes.

Last night the 2009 Critics Choice Awards took place in Los Angeles celebrating the stars of the silver screen. Many of Hollywood's biggest names got dressed up and hit the red carpet. One of the most emerging trends that I've noticed (beyond credit crunch supporting floor sweeping gowns) is the knee skimming dress.
