The Victoriana and Bohemia-inspired range launches on September 4. Watch above and tell me what you think of the video.

High Street Heaven — Alice Temperley Designs John Lewis Range

I'm so excited that Alice Temperley is designing her first ever high street range this Autumn.

I'm so excited that Alice Temperley is designing her first ever high street range this Autumn. The British designer announced this week she is teaming up with John Lewis to release a 60-piece collection called Somerset by Alice Temperley. Launching on September 4 online and in 29 stores, prices start at a very reasonable £29 for a scarf and £99 for a day dress, and go up to £1,000 for a sheepskin coat, with a partywear line expected to follow in October. UK model Lily Donaldson will front the advertising campaign. Alice said:

"We have spent the last ten years building our lines and Somerset will complement our existing collections; it is a very accessible product that will take our aesthetic to a wider audience. I wanted it to be very much a collection of essentials and to design a collection that would provide a feminine and functional wardrobe for women in their everyday life.

This collection is all encompassing, effortless and draws on our classics. John Lewis is a great partner as it stands for quality and is a trusted staple in everyone's lifestyle. Integrity is paramount and as an independent British brand, we are thrilled to work with a trusted British retailer."

We can expect all the usual trappings of a Temperley collection, from Victoriana and Bohemia accents to lace embellishment and military hardware. I cannot wait, what about you?

Temperley London Fall 2012

Temperley London's opulent Autumn collection showed an array of beaded and silk gowns, gold lamé, and intricate embroidery. Inspired by the "sumptuous colors and decadent subjects of the religious paintings and tapestries" from the Renaissance, designer Alice Temperley created a decadent fairytale filled with grandeur and glamour. Adorned with luxe fur cossacks, models walked down the runway dressed in an array of long-sleeved floral and beaded gowns, some of which were Oscars-worthy contenders, in addition to shiny pant suits, and full-skirted silhouettes. Standouts included an elegant black slitted gown with a draped back, and the floral-patterned tops and dresses. Meanwhile, velvet separates and chic leather skirt suits provided a modern and textural twist to the line. More details from the beautiful collection below.

  • Trends: Full skirts, gold lamé, florals.
  • Colours: Black, gold, ivory, red, navy, blue, brown.
  • Key Piece: The floral embellished pieces and silky black gown were the standout pieces.
  • Accessories: Suede platform sandals and ankle boots, colourful jewelry, fur cossack hats.
  • Who Would Wear It: Women looking for unique, yet polished look like Kate Middleton and Thandie Newton in addition to front row attendees Poppy Delevigne and Minnie Driver.

Which Temperely Dress Do You Like Best?

British Designer Alice Temperely made a giant red carpet splash at last night's 2012 SAG Awards.

British Designer Alice Temperely made a giant red carpet splash at last night's 2012 SAG Awards. Two ladies from the hysterical US comedy Modern Family were dressed to impress in flattering floor length gowns paired with elegant hair and makeup. Sarah Hyland wore a blush honeysuckle look from the Autumn/Winter 2011 collection (£1850), whilst on screen mom Julie Bowen wore a draped scarlett dress in damsonthe from the Spring/Summer 2012 range (£1650). Talk about mother-daughter rivalry! Out of these two Temperley dresses (which by the way are both available in stores now), whose do you like best?

Not only were the lovely ladies of the UK present for last night's big awards show, but a few prominent British designer dresses also made their way across the pond for the formal affair. Glee's Dianna Agron wore a red lace stunner from Giles Deacon, Nicole Richie glittered in Julien MacDonald, Busy Philipps was draped in a Grecian-inspired dress from Alice Temperely and Kate Winslet wore a Jenny Packham number that is sure to go down in the history of elegant award show dresses. Temperley London Spring 2012

Pippa Middleton was front and center at Temperley London's Spring 2012 show. No wonder, as the Middleton sister is responsible for starting one of the year's biggest gown crazes when she attended the royal wedding reception in an emerald green Temperley gown. The collection was an elegant, silky nod to the '70s, with slinky camisole-like gowns, high-waist tap pants, and head scarves.

  • Trends: 70s glamour, silks, hot pants, lace, boudoir.
  • Colors: black, ivory, florals, navy, silver.
  • Key Piece: a long floral silk gown; the beaded ivory spaghetti strap gown.
  • Accessories: gorgeous statement necklaces, head scarves.
  • Who Would Wear It: Pippa Middleton was in the front row, but Temperley is geared toward feminine women who indulge their romantic side.

Temperley Resort 2012 Lookbook

Unlike Alice by Temperley, the fun-loving, slightly rebellious sister line, Temperley is a bit more polished, sophisticated, and unapologetically romantic. We have swooned over many a Temperley dress, and the bridal collection is fit for a princess. (Temperley was rumored to be one of the dress designers for Kate Middleton's bridal gown.) For resort, the designer was inspired by Botticelli paintings, so clothes reflect the soft palettes and dreaminess of works like "The Birth of Venus." We are particularly smitten with the ethereal dresses covered in appliqued flowers and leaves. After the slideshow of Resort 2012, be sure to check out our interview with Alice on her Summer essentials and inspirations.
