I've always heard Alexander McQueen's collections were emotional. No doubt, his final one was. The show notes read: "Each piece is unique, as was he."

In 2006, Alexander McQueen pushed catwalk conventions by presenting a show that was a hologram of Kate Moss swirling around in one of his beautiful conventions. I have posted this video before, but in light of recent events I thought it was worth repeating. This is one of my favourite catwalk shows of all time and shows off just how creative Mr.McQueen really was.

Yesterday the post mortem results on Lee McQueen were announced confirming that he did commit suicide and thus died as a result of asphyxiation and hanging. This morning, the Gucci group, which have a 51 percent stake in McQueen’s company, have announced that the brand will continue despite the designers death.

I am still struggling to believe that one of the UK's greatest design talents is no longer with us. Last week, I broke the sad news that Lee Alexander McQueen had been found dead at his London home and since then tributes have been heard around the world.
This weekend, the first of the Fashion for Relief Haiti shows took place in New York (the second will take place during London Fashion Week) which was an ode to the late designer.

Earlier today I broke the sad news that fashion had lost one of its best loved names. Alexander McQueen has apparantly committed suicide at his home, and while more details emerge, tributes have been appearing on Twitter.
The British designer was born Lee Alexander McQueen in East London and began his fashion career on Saville Row.

I'm sad to report that Alexander McQueen has been found dead at the age of 40 after apparently taking his own life. His office have released this statement:
"It is a tragic loss. We are not making a comment at this time out of respect for the McQueen family."

Alexander McQueen's Spring 2010 collection was one of the most memorable of the season. It was streamed live across the internet and also had the debut play of Lady Gaga's single Bad Romance. She later wore pieces from the collection in the official video.

The 2009 British Fashion Awards take place this evening (you can see a full list of nominees here) and with just hours to go, the British Fashion Council have announced a list of the 25 most powerful in the industry. The list was chosen by a panel which included British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman and contains both household names (Kate Moss, Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith) and lesser known industry insiders (Lulu Kennedy, Louis Wilson and Joan Burnstein) highlighting the size and impact of fashion.
It's also interesting how many of the people mentioned have been knighted proving the importance of the industry as a whole to the UK.

The British Fashion Awards take place next week and most of the nominees have already been announced. Before they announce designer of the year, I want to know whose been your favourite over the past twelve months. Here are six design houses; Chanel, Celine, Burberry Prorsum, Luella, Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen – which I think have excelled this year.
