2011 Spring Fashion Week

Spring 2011 is going to be all about two shades, lavender and honeysuckle. The former was an overwhelming favorite on the runways in New York and London, and the latter is Pantone's pick for Color of the Year in 2011. What does this mean for you? Well, there's bound to be loads of both shades showing up at makeup counters, and that means finding new and pretty ways to wear the colors. I've gathered up some of the prettiest, freshest uses of lavender and honeysuckle from the runways, and now I'm passing them on to you. So whether you want to look proper, edgy, or sweet, there's a look here for you and a color variation to suit your skin tone.

Anna Dello Russo is the editor in chief of Japanese Vogue. She recently admitted that street style blogs like the Sartorialist make her own personal styling a job in itself! She always impresses on the international fashion circuit as she attends many shows in New York, Milan and Paris. Anna was born in Italy and now spends most of her time in Milan. A recent video gave an insight in to Anna's wardrobe for Spring '11 which included around 100 items! She thinks of herself as the Lady Gaga of fashion. After season upon season of skinny trousers dominating the catwalks, it was great to see some new styles break through for Spring '11. This season in London, it was wide leg trousers which were the break through style. They're a great item for the warmer months and can be really flattering (they also suit a range of body shapes). Fashion Week fever still hasn't left me! All of the fun started back in September in New York, and then moved to London, Milan and Paris. The overriding beauty looks were big hair and either 1970s-inspired makeup or a clean, timeless face.

Some of my favourite styles included red lips at Twenty8Twelve and the sweet plaits at Erdem. However, mixed into all of the pretty was also some wacky.

For example, at David Koma the models had painted on sideburns, and at Jasper Garvida hair was piled on top of the head and surrounded by pink and white balls. Take a peek at eight of these outrageous hair and makeup styles here!

The official Spring 2011 shows are now over as Paris brought things to a close last week with a colourful Miu Miu show. It's been a busy September for Alexa Chung who has been jetting around the globe attending fashion shows in all of the major capitals. I am a big fan of her style and love her andogynous looks.
