Trend Alert: Minimal Makeup

Bin the blush girls!

Bin the blush girls! John Galliano may have sent bold makeup extravaganzas down the runway at the weekend, but elsewhere there's a rival trend emerging: Minimalism. The Autumn shows, have been filled with bare, fresh faced looks using subtle makeup touches. Makeup at Stella McCartney and Emmanuel Ungaro was girly and natural. At Balmain, makeup artist Tom Pecheux created an understated natural look with nude shades. It was a similar vibe at Dries Van Noten where models wore barely-there makeup.

The trend started as far back as the New York's shows. At The Row, makeup artist Aaron de Mey for Lancôme worked a "noncosmetics looking" style for the fresh faced models. London rocked it too, with both Matthew Williamson, Julien Macdonald and Burberry Prorsum projecting an effortless "no makeup" aesthetic. To find out more details and to see pictures, just read more

Olivia Palermo Shares Her Beauty Secrets

I've been a fan of super-stylish Olivia Palermo ever since she graced our screens in MTV's hit show The City, so you can imagine my excitement when I ran in to her this London Fashion Week!

I've been a fan of super-stylish Olivia Palermo ever since she graced our screens in MTV's hit show The City, so you can imagine my excitement when I ran in to her this London Fashion Week! What's more, she was really lovely, and nothing like the character she's portrayed as on television.

Olivia was in town to fete the launch of her new short film, directed by Kate Elson (sister of model Karen). The film is a showcase for Matches' in-house label Freda, and features Palermo in her acting debut, dancing around a bedroom trying on clothes with her signature glossy chestnut waves and flawless skin. I managed to grab a few minutes with her at the movie launch.

A Few Fab Words With Siobhan Perry

Whilst BellaSugar UK got the scoop on the beauty looks at William Tempest, I had a quick chat with one of the models from the show – Siobhan Perry.

Whilst BellaSugar UK got the scoop on the beauty looks at William Tempest, I had a quick chat with one of the models from the show – Siobhan Perry. The 18 year old model was doing her final show of her first ever fashion week having also appeared at Charles Anastace amongst others. Siobhan hails from Liverpool and got her big break when she represented the UK at the 2009 Ford Supermodel of the World.

She was first scouted at just 15 and has since been snapped up by Premier Models. She has already worked with Reebok, Rare at Topshop and has appeared in You magazine.

Which designers would you like to work with? I always wanted to model for Alexander McQueen, but obviously I can't do that now. I was really sad when he died. Some of my other favourite designers include Stella McCartney, Alexander Wang and William Tempest.

What would be your dream fashion shoot? Working in Asia with an elephant!

Which magazines would you like to appear in? My dream is to appear on the cover of Vogue. I'd also love to work with Dazed and Confused and i-D.

Beauty Byte: Topshop to Launch Beauty Range

Exciting news girls! Topshop has already rocked our world with affordable fast fashion and now it looks set to do the same with makeup.

Exciting news girls! Topshop has already rocked our world with affordable fast fashion and now it looks set to do the same with makeup. Back in August I told you about this too good to be true buzz, and now it's here! News emerged on Friday in industry bible Women’s Wear Daily, that the chain will be launching two cosmetic ranges from May. Makeup artist Hannah Murray has been consulting the chain and used the products to create the look for the recent Topshop Unique show during London Fashion Week. She said,

"It’s everything you’d want in a range, but in a bold and confident way. It comes from people who are very passionate about fashion."

The full collection will sell in most major Topshop stores and online, and will include makeup, nail polishes and skin tints. There are plans to update the range four to six times a year with new on trend fashion shades. The store also plans to host pod casts of makeup tutorials from Murray. Some of the shades in the collection include The Big Smoke, a fashion-forward (cement coloured nail polish), and lavender coloured eyeliner. Prices will run from roughly £5 for an eye pencil to £13 for skin tint. Stay tuned for updates and product photos soon!

William Tempest

2010 Autumn London Fashion Week: William Tempest

William Tempest is currently one of London's hottest young talents.

William Tempest is currently one of London's hottest young talents. The Fashion Fringe finalist of 2008 has really found his own style and has become one of the hottest tickets of the off schedule shows. For Autumn 2010, his presentation attracted a front row that included Louise Roe, Peaches Geldof and James Brown. Having met William last season, I was excited to see what his new line would include and what inspiration he would have picked up following his travels to the Middle East. He recently told Vogue, his line was influenced by "the story of the Queen of Sheba's visit to King Solomon, and a night I spent in the desert." The beauty looks played in to this with a Cleopatra style. This show unveiled his first foray in to footwear which he produced with Mechante of London. I loved the maxi dresses which were dramatic and elegant. What do you think of William's latest creations?

Backstage Pass To LFW Autumn 2010: William Tempest

Emerging designer William Tempest's show was something that I'd been looking forward to all week long.

Emerging designer William Tempest's show was something that I'd been looking forward to all week long. Last season was incredible, and this year was even better (but, I'll leave it to FabSugarUK to fill you in on his amazing clothing later). However, the beauty style is what I wanted to tell you about since the eye shadow creations are swoon worthy too! The makeup look was created by Lan Nguyen for AOFM using Benefit Cosmetics which she described as,

"Sheer luxury. Think Dubai meets Cleopatra with a geometrical shaped eye and bold lines mixed with metallic lime greens and golds."

I really loved the way the harsh black liner and shadow was softened by the funky, yet totally wearable chartreuse and gold eye shadows and pale cheek and lip. The blending alone was superb, and sparked all kinds of ideas in my head for how you can pair basic metallics like gold, silver, copper and pewter shades with deeper tones to create a sexy effect.
