Under the unforgiving bright white lights of the Mango store on Oxford Street, Modernist presented their Spring 2009 collection. The show space was harshly lit with black mirrored columns breaking up the catwalk. Pop star Will Young sat in the front row as design duo Abdul Koroma and Andrew Jones revealed their incredibly feminine collection.

The sun was shining for the final day of London Fashion Week which was appropriate for Osman Yousefzada's Spring line. He presented in the middle of Hyde Park in a glass building with the sun streaming in on the longest catwalk this week (or at least it seemed like it). Osman is probably best known for his collaboration with Mango where he designed a line of LBDs.

There was a distinct American vibe to the opening of this collection shown on the last day of Spring 2009 London Fashion Week. It began with a military feel with camouflage pieces that were made glamorous with a lot of sequins.
Certain glossy magazines this month have declared the end of grunge, but with collections like this it seems fashion's love affair with grungey dressing is never quite over.

This must have been one of the most talked about shows at London Fashion Week this season. The design duo have widely been tipped for the top not least because of their New Generation support. Benjamin Kirchhoff and Edward Meadham are both Central Saint Martins graduates and have previously been part of the Fashion East show.

It is pleasing to note that Vivienne Westwood's Red Label show now seems to be a permanent fixture of London Fashion Week. After her Berlin clubland-inspired Anglomania collection at Berlin Fashion Week this summer, Westwood's Red Label girl has taken on a more sophisticated approach for Spring/Summer 2009. With a front row that included Kate Moss, Dita von Teese, Daisy Lowe and rather bizarrely, Pamela Anderson, this was one of the most hotly anticipated shows of the week.

At the Erdem show actress Emilia Fox and model Erin O'Connor worked their catwalk beauty credentials, albeit in very different ways. Erin went for a typically understated look with minimal lip colour and just a hint of mascara. Her ebony hair and pale skin provide a striking contrast, although I do like seeing her with red lipstick.

Although Avsh Alom Gur is not a big name in his own right, his current position at Ossie Clark is edging him in to the mainstream making the small location for this show a surprise. People were literally packed in to the Baden Powell building for show which had obviously drummed up a lot of support. Indeed, celebrated fashion editor Suzy Menkes was in the front row smiling at Gur's joyous Spring collection.

The Penkov girl is a Barbarella Sci-Fi fantasy this season. At the Spring/Summer 2009 London Fashion Week show, the girls wore white structured chiffon shifts with high gladiator sandals and swingy hair. Ultra-soft fabrics and sophisticated cuts were combined with traditional craftsmanship for a collection that cleverly integrated hard white porcelain accessories made into decorative body armour.

Betty Jackson showed modern shapes in a toned-down palette yesterday at London Fashion Week. Taupe, white and black pieces came in high-waist hotpants, swing coats with pared-down ruffles and a mixture of structured and billowing silhouettes.
Meanwhile, the models wore wide fabric hair bands with shades of Flashdance.

Mulberry gave us a preview of their Spring 2009 collection yesterday. This is the first collection by new creative director Emma Hill who took over from Stuart Vevers (now at Loewe).
As it's a fresh start (and spring) she opted for plenty of bright, fresh colours including yellow, blue and fuschia.
