Celebrity Style: Kirsty Gallacher's Red Carpet Look

TV presenter Kirsty Gallacher hit the red carpet at last night's National Television Awards looking gorgeous and feminine.

TV presenter Kirsty Gallacher hit the red carpet at last night's National Television Awards looking gorgeous and feminine. Like Tess Daly, Kirsty opted for a Temperley London dress for the occasion.

She showed off her lovely pins in a fun, girly pink dress (£645) and added edge with slicked back hair and gladiator heels.

I love this look on Kirsty and it shows off her figure perfectly. The black accessories stop the look from being overly girly. If you've got a boyish shape like Kirsty than layered dresses like this are great for appearing to add curves.

At the National Television Awards last night, Hollyoaks actress Gemma Merna sparkled on the red carpet. She combined her bright blonde bob with smouldering dark eye makeup and luminous skin. A light tan plus smudgy charcoal eyes gave her look Old Hollywood appeal.

National Television Awards 2008: The Winners

The National Television Awards may have had some stunning dresses and make-up looks, and I may have gotten to talk to some great celebrities, but really the whole event was about the gongs that were handed out during the ceremony.

The National Television Awards may have had some stunning dresses and make-up looks, and I may have gotten to talk to some great celebrities, but really the whole event was about the gongs that were handed out during the ceremony. Four US faces came over to help give them out — Zachary Quinto, Nicollette Sheridan, Michael Urie and Paris Hilton — but the winners were all Brits, as voted for by the public.

In the press room following each acceptance speech we were visited by the winners. Rita Simons and Matt Littler seemed genuinely shocked and excited about their victories, Paul O'Grady seemed surprised but indifferent to his win in the Most Popular Entertainment Programme category, while Simon Cowell and Ant and Dec were consummate chuffed professionals. David Tennant used his remote acceptance speech to announce he was leaving Doctor Who, and the entire Eastenders cast bounded up to the stage to collect for Most Popular Serial Drama.

2008 National Television Awards: Best Dressed

There were so many gorgeous dresses on the red carpet at this year's NTA's that I'm struggling to pick just five ladies that displayed the best style.

There were so many gorgeous dresses on the red carpet at this year's NTA's that I'm struggling to pick just five ladies that displayed the best style. There was a lot of red and metallic on show and many classy, long evening gowns. Who do you think deserves to be crowned best dressed?

2008 NTAs: Simon Talks Strictly, Louis Stresses Sympathy Vote

The X Factor's presenters, judges and behind the scenes geniuses were all at the National Television Awards last night and I got the chance to speak to some of them!

The X Factor's presenters, judges and behind the scenes geniuses were all at the National Television Awards last night and I got the chance to speak to some of them! Following his Special Recognition award acceptance speech (and losing to Strictly Come Dancing in the Most Popular Talent Show category) a very amusing Simon came to the press room for a Q+A, and I also managed to speak to Louis Walsh, Dannii Minogue and Holly Willoughby on the red carpet. Here's what they had to say:

  • Simon on how upset he was that Strictly... won the live vote: "Oh out of ten, a million! I mean, the whole night's ruined! Yeah, seriously, I mean, I'm bad about losing but to that lot, it's a nightmare. I mean a serious nightmare."
  • Simon's message to the Strictly guys: "I'm really pissed off, how about that?"
  • Cheryl Cole said if she wins the series she'll kiss Dannii, would Simon kiss Louis if he won? [laughs] "Absolutely no chance. No, I'll kiss one of those two. I think I've got a good chance of winning. I'd kiss whichever comes first. It's not exactly a bad problem is it?"
  • Louis on crying on last week's show: "Why did I cry? Honestly, I didn't know [Daniel] was going to sing that song "To Where You Are" and I know the song really well because it's a Josh Groban song. I wanted Westlife to record it, it's a very sad song. So when he sang it, it totally got to me and I had to keep him. Otherwise, I was going to send him home. No, he cannot win, no. It was the sympathy vote, and it got to me and I'm guilty of it. Amy's the vocal coach, she'll tell you how good or bad he is! Vocal coach to the stars... and Daniel."

2008 NTAs: Davina Discusses Russell and Jonathan's Dilemma

Last night I attended the National Television Awards to get all the gossip from the myriad of TV stars that attended!

Last night I attended the National Television Awards to get all the gossip from the myriad of TV stars that attended! It was a chilly night outside the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the ladies in their glam frocks were rushing down the red carpet to get in from the cold. One person who took her time though, was Davina McCall. She stopped to answer a few questions before the ceremony and talked acting, all things Big Brother, and the BBC controversy. Davina was animated, so friendly and enthusiastic when chatting to me last night, and her hubby Matthew was stood by her side watching proudly. Here's what she had to say:

  • On Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross: "Lets all just get over it. I haven't heard it myself, but I think a lot of people are passing judgment without having heard it, and I think it's important that we hear what they said and how it was meant before we complain. I think we've got a culture of complaining sometimes and... I've only read it. On paper it looks pretty bad. but a friend of mine who's heard it said 'you know they really didn't mean it that badly, please go and listen to it'. So I said OK, and I'll go and listen to it tonight. I'm not sure if the apology was quite heartfelt enough, but again I'm slightly inclined to forgive them — they're comedians — but I think they need to do a bit more of a heartfelt apology and then I'm over it. We still want them around! Personally, I'm not that keen on comedy at somebody else's expense, but they are funny, those guys, and you can't deny that."
  • On E4 series Dead Set: "If I had a list of ten things to do before I die, being a zombie would be on there."
  • On acting: "Obviously I don't act, and I was [doing this scene where I was] falling and I thought 'there's nothing I can do about it, I'm falling this way I can't stop myself' so I just did it. Jaime Winstone said 'I'd copy that.'" Beams cheerfully "Yeah thanks, that's me, I'm an actor."

Trend Alert: Lady in Red

The National Television Awards are over for another year and we've voted on the stars red carpet style.

The National Television Awards are over for another year and we've voted on the stars red carpet style. There were two dominant colours dressing the celebrities this year; red and gold. Red was certainly the most striking for me as Nicollette, Carley, Michelle and Sinitta all worked the royal colour. Personally, I prefer a red carpet gown to be floor-sweeping and elegant although I love the back detail on Carley's frock.
