Sometimes, things don't work out the way you hoped. It happens to the best of us, and celebrities are no exception. This year was fraught with splits, from Britney Spears and Jason Trawick calling it quits to George Clooney and Stacy Keibler throwing in the towel. We were floored when Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom broke the news of their breakup and equally saddened when Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder ended their two-year romance. And let's not forget Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus, who called off their engagement, and Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, who had us rooting for them more than once. Let's talk about all the biggest celebrity breakups that left us totally flabbergasted — vote now!
Robert Pattinson has finally shaved that beard and is now sporting a goatee. The actor debuted his new facial hair when he attended the 6th annual Go Go Gala at the Bel Air Bay Club in LA yesterday. The actor looked like he was in a great mood, chatting with fellow guests and posing for photos with host Adam Shankman. The dinner featured also featured an auction, and Rob won a cello made out of recycled material after putting up $5,600.
Rob's rumored new love interest, Dylan Penn, was not at the event, but that doesn't mean she has been laying low. Dylan recently had dinner with her father, Sean Penn, and another handsome man, Jon Hamm, after the premiere of Sean's new film, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty in LA on Wednesday.
If you can't get that new facial hair out of your head, be sure to vote in our poll on Robert Pattinson's goatee!
Christian Grey might be an All-American S&M fiend, but he'll be portrayed by a hot Northern Irish actor on the big screen. Jamie Dornan has reportedly won the coveted role that will guarantee his status as a future household name. He's the latest UK citizen to land a big American part. These other hot British actors have managed to put away their sexy accents to portray iconic superheroes, a historic president, and a very sparkly vampire.
Henry Cavill in Man of Steel
You can't get more American than Superman. But Cavill comes from the original Jersey, located in the English Channel.
Theo James in Divergent
Oxford native James will play Four in the upcoming and much-anticipated film Divergent, which costars Shailene Woodley and Kate Winslet. You may recognize him as Turkish diplomat Kemal Pamuk from Downton Abbey.
Nicholas Hoult in X-Men: First Class
Remember Hoult as the young star of Hugh Grant's About a Boy? He captured the attention of more recent audiences in X-Men: First Class as a young Beast. That's also where he met his American girlfriend, Jennifer Lawrence.
Here's something you may not have known — back in what looks like 2008, Robert Pattinson and Katy Perry sang karaoke together to Boyz II Men's classic hit "I'll Make Love to You." There's not much to add to this video, other than the fact that both of the stars look like they're having fun, and the "artsy" editing job only adds to the hilariousness of the performances. Watch the video above to see how Rob and Katy fare as karaoke partners.
Robert Pattinson was a Brit among a sea of Aussies at tonight's Australians in Film gala in LA. A suited-up — and nearly scruff-free — Rob was on hand to present an honor to Blue Tongue Films. The production company is behind his upcoming movie The Rover, which was shot in Southern Australia.
Rob had a front-row table at the award ceremony, where he dined on kohlrabi and beet salad by his rep's side and laughed along with the rest of the crowd — including Isla Fisher, Hawaii Five-0's Alex O'Loughlin, and several prominent Australian filmmakers — during the raucous festivities. Tonight was the second public appearance Rob has made this week; on Tuesday, he attended a screening of his friend Nicholas Jarecki's latest directorial project, Seduced and Abandoned.
Isla Fisher presented Baz Luhrman with one of two Orry-Kelly International awards tonight. The Great Gatsby director couldn't be there to accept in person, so she announced that she'd take home his boomerang statuette, teasing: "My first award!" Isla also couldn't resist comparing the title of the honor to the R&B singer with a very similar name: R. Kelly. When Rob presented the second of the statuettes to Blue Tongue shortly after Isla, he said he was chagrined she'd already made the first R. Kelly-related crack. Then, he jokingly referred to the honor as "the golden shower award," earning the evening's biggest roar of laughter from the crowd. In typical self-deprecating form, Rob also wondered out loud if he should ditch his "insanely" generic written speech, but ultimately decided against it after the crowd urged him to keep reading.
Stay tuned for tomorrow's POPSUGAR Live! for video from last night's ceremony and red carpet — and to hear why some of the Australian actors in attendance told us Rob deserved to be an honorary Aussie for the night.
This week's big casting news is that Jamie Dornan will play Christian in Fifty Shades of Grey, though it's well known that someone had the role before him. But do you know all the actors who almost scored lead roles in the racy film? The Hollywood Reporter revealed a few notable actors who either turned down the roles or were too busy to take on the filming schedule. Click through to see what could have been!
Robert Pattinson made a rare public appearance last night when he dropped by a screening of Seduced and Abandoned in LA to show support for his director friend Nicholas Jarecki. Rob mingled with the crowd and posed for photos with Nicholas, writer/director James Toback, and director Brett Ratner. The actor has been lying low over the past few months and hasn't attended a public bash since earlier this year when he presented at the 2013 Golden Globes. Robert has instead been busy with work, including filming The Rover in Australia over the Winter and Maps to the Stars in Canada and LA. Earlier this month, Rob sported a long, scraggly beard when he was spotted running errands around LA. However, it looks like the actor and face of Dior Homme has since trimmed down the facial hair to a sexy scruff.
Robert Pattinson may have had a special someone in mind during his recent interview with Australia's Sunday Style. In the magazine, Rob is quoted candidly discussing his take on forgiveness and relationships. Rob told Sunday Style, "I'm quite sensitive, and I do like a bit of grand gesturing, but that's just my ego. I like to give people presents and I think of myself as the best gift giver, but only because I get stuff for myself and then make it work for the other person."
He also went on to reveal, "There's not very much that really bothers me. I don't ever feel the need to forgive or expect people to be. I judge people on their actions. I don't really care if it's wrong or right, I give them the benefit of the doubt. If they do something I can't be bothered to deal with, I just cut them out." His comments to the publication have stirred speculation that they could be directly related to his May breakup with his longtime girlfriend, Kristen Stewart, since the pair were involved with a highly publicized cheating scandal in July 2012.
Rob and Kristen have obviously gone their separate ways, and many feel that it was due to the fact that he could not get past the incident in which she was caught kissing her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders, last Summer. Do you think Rob's comments about forgiveness and cutting someone out are directed at his ex Kristen?
The new Dior ad starring Robert Pattinson is here, and it's giving us everything we've been hoping for and more. The black-and-white short film features Robert with model Camille Rowe. The two are getting in all sorts of trouble, sneaking into a fancy party, smoking in a bathtub, making out a lot, and even driving a car on the beach. We've seen plenty of Robert without clothing, and he even won this year's (Mostly) Shirtless Bracket, but he looks just as good in crisp, tailored menswear. The ad definitely proves Robert has everything it takes to be the perfect specimen of a modern man: he's dripping with women, he's rebellious and handsome, and, most importantly, he looks really good in sunglasses.
The Twilight star's new ad comes in close behind the huge announcement of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie casting. Charlie Hunnam was signed to take on the role, meaning fans won't have the opportunity to see Robert play the fan-fiction character originally based on Edward Cullen. It's too bad, too. The Dior ad has us dying to see more of his sultry side.
Dior has just released the uncensored director's cut of the highly anticipated advert for Dior Homme starring Robert Pattinson. The clip — shot mostly in black and white — follows a long line of Dior fragrance ads featuring moody models and mysterious lighting, and seems to show Robert reminiscing about a passionate romance with a beautiful blonde (cue plenty of Rob hanging around on rooftops looking pensive). It also plays up Rob's British heritage, with a soundtrack provided by Led Zeppelin (1969's "Whole Lotta Love").
