Rachel Weisz may be currently known for her role as the witch Evanora in Oz the Great and Powerful, but the English actress's classic look has long been an inspiration to designer Narciso Rodriguez. And as a L'Oréal spokesmodel, Rachel has more than a few beauty tricks up her sleeve. She turns 43 today, so we're celebrating by taking a glimpse back at some of her best red-carpet moments.

James and His Oz Ladies Hit the Yellow Brick Road in London
James Franco had his leading ladies, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz, and Mila Kunis, by his side on the yellow brick road carpet at the UK premiere of Oz the Great and Powerful today. Rachel donned a nude Michael Kors gown to join her costars in London after they premiered the film in Russia without her last night. James, Michelle, and Mila got dressed up for the Moscow debut after a busy day of promotional appearances.
Although Rachel missed out on the fun in Russia, she did make the trek to Japan last week. Rachel and James popped up in Tokyo to premiere Oz last Wednesday, and they'll keep up their busy schedule as the March 8 release date nears.
James and Rachel Show Their True Colors at Oz's Tokyo Premiere
James Franco and Rachel Weisz turned up the glamour at the Japanese premiere of Oz the Great and Powerful in Tokyo earlier today. Rachel, who plays the Wicked Witch of the East, wore a red satin gown and covered up from the cold in a white furry jacket, while James embraced his Emerald City character in a green suit. They were representing the film in Japan since their costars were busy with appearances of their own in the States. Michelle Williams appeared on the Late Show With David Letterman in NYC last night to talk about her new movie and her life with Matilda. Meanwhile, Mila Kunis was busy in LA celebrating her new role as a Gemfields global ambassador.
James Franco and Rachel Weisz Take Oz to Tokyo With Smiles
James Franco and Rachel Weisz were all smiles as they touched down in Tokyo today. The costars made the trek to Japan for their Disney flick, Oz the Great and Powerful, after debuting the film in LA last week. James and Rachel were joined by costars Mila Kunis and Michelle Williams for the world premiere of Oz last Wednesday night. James made quite the entrance arriving on the yellow brick road, which took the place of a red carpet, by hot air balloon in a plaid Gucci suit.
Both James and Rachel have been busy making promotional appearances lately. Rachel visited Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Valentine's Day when she not only chatted about Oz, but also admitted that she shows love for husband Daniel Craig all year round. Meanwhile, James made his way overseas for the Berlin Film Festival premiere of his other upcoming movie, Lovelace, with Amanda Seyfried and Peter Sarsgaard last week.
The Ladies of Oz Team Up For a Glamorous March Cover
Oz: The Great and Powerful hits theaters next month and the leading ladies of the classic children's story reboot are promoting the project with InStyle's March issue. Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis, and Michelle Williams posed together for a glamorous shot and spilled about filming and family. Michelle touched on life with boyfriend Jason Segel while Rachel shared her favorite part of working with Michelle. Mila, who has been sticking close to Ashton Kutcher, talked about her tricky costumes. Here's more from Michelle, Rachel, and Mila in InStyle:
- Michelle on Jason: "He is nice . . . I didn't actually realize who he was before I started dating him. I mean, I saw the Muppets movie, and I thought, 'Oh, that's cute,' but the truth is I didn't realize he made a lot of very popular, funny movies or was on a TV show. But maybe more important, I didn't realize he was so tall. I thought, 'Hey, man, you're cramping my style!' I tried wearing wedge heels for a while to compensate, but it wasn't me and I just gave up."
- Rachel on the best part of filming: "Michelle's daughter and my son are about the same age, so they went to camp together, and we took them bowling. It was really fun for me and Michelle too, because you don't get that many mommy playdates in our business."
- Mila on her costumes: "I spent a lot of the shoot in a leather corset, wired up in a harness, and flying around in a costume that weighed 10 pounds. I hear some women enjoy wearing a corset, but tell them to try 17 hours of that and then get back to me."
All the Ladies on the Golden Globes Red Carpet
It was a big night for TV and film stars as they hit the red carpet for the 2013 Golden Globes on Sunday. Best supporting actress nominee Anne Hathaway chose a white Chanel look for her big night while presenter Kate Hudson went sexy in a plunging Alexander McQueen. Jennifer Lawrence, who picked up the award for best actress in a musical or comedy, brought a bright note with her Dior Haute Couture gown. Homeland's Claire Danes showed off her postbaby body in a red halter by Versace with her husband, Hugh Dancy, by her side, and Jennifer Lopez took the stage to present in a lacy Zuhair Murad number. There were so many more gorgeous ladies that posed on their way into the show, including a Christian Dior-clad Marion Cotillard, Taylor Swift in a backless Donna Karan Atelier, and others. James Franco Crashes Emerald City in the Oz: The Great and Powerful Trailer
Director Sam Raimi gave audiences a sneak peek to his epic new film, Oz: The Great and Powerful, at this year's Comic-Con, but now we're treated to the full-length trailer. The teaser gave us a good feel for the film's whimsical aesthetic, but the new preview sheds some light on the Wizard of Oz prequel's actual plot. Shady magician Oz (James Franco) gets plopped into the Emerald City and is tasked with saving the land of Oz. Though he strives to do something great with his life, Oz is unsure if he can live up to the expectations of those depending on him, like witchy sisters Theodora (Mila Kunis) and Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and the luminous Glinda (Michelle Williams). If he succeeds, the kingdom, and all its riches, are his.
In short: this movie looks astounding. Raimi is doing it in 3D and I can't wait to be smack in the middle of the Emerald City — talking dolls, flying monkeys, and all. I'm especially curious to see the Wicked Witch 2.0; that flash of her fiery appearance at the end is chilling. I like that he's balancing the scary factor with a little bit of humor; I got in a chuckle at the munchkin part. Oz: The Great and Powerful hits theaters March 8, and you can watch the trailer after the jump.
Daniel Craig and Daniel Day-Lewis Win Big at The Britannia Awards
Stars hit the red carpet at the 2012 BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel last night. Daniel Craig was joined by his Skyfall Bond girls, Bérénice Marlohe and Naomie Harris, but it was his wife, Rachel Weisz, who he leaned in to kiss before picking up the British artist of the year honor.
Daniel Day-Lewis was also in attendance, and after Steven Spielberg presented him with the Stanley Kubrick Award for Excellence in Film, he took advantage of his stage time to show off his funny side. Daniel thanked BAFTA with a spoof of Clint Eastwood's conversation with an empty chair at the Republican National Convention. The comical speech was somewhat unexpected from Daniel, who is best known for his serious roles, including Spielberg's Lincoln, which hits theaters next week. The Britannia Awards will be broadcast on BBC America Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. ET as a two-hour special.
Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig Take Turkey Together
Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig held hands yesterday while out in Istanbul together. It seems Rachel's accompanied her husband on a brief press tour on behalf of his latest James Bond movie, Skyfall. Daniel and his costars Naomie Harris and Bérénice Marlohe joined director Sam Mendes for a photocall on Sunday at the city's Ciragan Palace to celebrate the ongoing shoot. James Bond villain Javier Bardem unfortunately wasn't part of the picture session, but he was seen last month on set in London.
It's a special time for Rachel and Daniel — they're coming up on their one-year wedding anniversary! The couple married last June in an intimate ceremony in upstate New York. Rachel and Daniel are competing each other in this year's PopSugar 100. Who do you think had the bigger 12 months? Make sure to cast your votes in the PopSugar 100 and enter to win $2,500!
