Pop worlds collided at the Smurfs 2 premiere in LA today when Britney Spears met up with Katy Perry on the blue carpet. Both of the stars made the event a family affair, with Britney bringing her two sons, Jayden and Sean, to the bash and Katy posing for photographers with her grandma, Ann Hudson. This isn't the first time that Katy's grandmother has made a trip down a red carpet as she's also attended the 2011 Grammy Awards with her superstar granddaughter. Other celebrity guests at the Smurfs 2 premiere included Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays, who both stopped to talk to POPSUGAR at the event. Stay tuned for their interviews!
Katy was very excited to meet Britney at the event, and even tweeted a photo of the duo sharing a hug, writing, "OMG! I can't, I'm crying!" Despite the happy tears, this isn't Katy's first time encountering Britney, so to speak. She revealed at the premiere that she secretly sang background vocals on Britney's new single for the film, "Ooh La La." Katy said, "Me and [songwriter] Bonnie McKee secretly did some background vocals on that song. So maybe listen for our voices."
Aaron Paul and Neil Patrick Harris got up bright and early today to present the 2013 Emmy nominations in LA. Kate Mara was originally slated to read out the nominees with Aaron, but flight problems caused her to delay her trip to Hollywood. Luckily, Neil, who is also hosting the award show this year, was able to fill in last minute, echoing a similar situation that Jimmy Kimmel was put in last year when presenter Nick Offerman was delayed from attending the nominations.
While the nominations were full of old favorites, there were a few new and surprising additions in the mix. Kerry Washington snagged a nomination for her role on Scandal, marking the first time a black woman has been nominated for the lead in a drama series since 1995. Matt Damon, Claire Danes, and Lena Dunham also earned nominations, as did Justin Timberlake, who was honored for his hosting duties on Saturday Night Live. Read on for a sampling of the top nominations, and read the full list of Emmy nominations on POPSUGAR Entertainment.

The 67th annual Tony Awards rolled into Radio City Music Hall in NYC on Sunday to recognize achievements on Broadway. Host Neil Patrick Harris, who ran the show for the fourth time, walked the red carpet with David Burtka and kicked things off with a big musical number that included performers from almost a dozen Broadway musicals — as well as Mike Tyson dancing on stage. Best actor nominee Tom Hanks had wife Rita Wilson by his side, while Jake Gyllenhaal looked handsome in a crisp suit and bow tie after popping up at Spike TV's Guys Choice Awards on Saturday in LA. Annie's Jane Lynch took the stage to perform during the show but posed solo on the red carpet, where Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson, in a custom bow tie from his Tie the Knot organization, stuck by fiancé Justin Mikita's side. Presenter Anna Kendrick chose a Donna Karan Atelier gown, and past Tony winner Scarlett Johansson wore an all-black Saint Laurent ensemble for her onstage appearance with Alan Cummings. Jessica Alba and Drew Barrymore were joined by a host of other stylish celebrities last night when they celebrated the launch of Tommy Hilfiger's new West Coast flagship store in West Hollywood. Drew and Jessica both wore Tommy Hilfiger outfits as they worked the red carpet with the designer and his wife, Dee. Jessica's latest public appearance was much less dramatic than the one she made on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday when she took part in a celebrity kissing booth and revealed her recent health scare.
Other famous attendees included Katy Perry, Olivia Munn, and Julianne Hough. Julianne was back in LA after a busy few days of press for Safe Haven in NYC, and dropped by the event sans boyfriend Ryan Seacrest, who attended the Topshop/Topman store opening nearby. Despite two fashionable bashes taking place in the same city, there were many stars who managed to attend each. Julianne, Jennifer Lopez, Estelle, and Jessica Lowndes all squeezed both events into their schedules.
The People's Choice Awards took over the Nokia Theatre in LA tonight with major stars from Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, and Hunger Games in attendance. TV stars Lea Michele, Nina Dobrev, and Neil Patrick Harris were just some of the lucky winners who took home beautiful Waterford crystal statues. Maroon 5, Chloe Moretz, and Adam Sandler nabbed further honors.
Robert Pattinson debuted a new hairstyle and accepted a trophy for best dramatic film on behalf of his Water For Elephants cast. He was presented the award by friend and Twilight costar Ashley Greene as well as Chuck's Zachary Levi. Big-screen comedy Bridesmaids got bragging rights for best comedy, though Kristen Wiig missed out on the fun in order to rehearse for this week's SNL. We were there on the red carpet and behind the scenes during the telecast to chat with attendees and winners. Click through to see all the photos, and check out the entire list of People's Choice Awards winners!
Blake Lively managed to show some skin in a suit last night at Barneys New York's launch of "Gaga's Workshop." The bright blue Elie Saab look was finished off with lace-embellished shoulders. It was her latest daring look after wearing a revealing Marchesa number Saturday to the Gossip Girl 100-episodes celebration. Blake had the company of her small screen buddy Matthew Settle last night, as well as Neil Patrick Harris, David Burtka, Brad Goreski, and Alexander Wang. We caught a moment with the actress, and Blake Lively shared her holiday must-haves. She told us she's currently buying lots of Chanel and Brunello Cucinelli for the colder weather.
Lady Gaga herself was on hand to celebrate the opening of her holiday collaboration with the iconic department store. Gaga was decked out for the occasion in a white Chanel gown that was customized by Karl Lagerfeld. There are tons of details about Lady Gaga's Barneys workshop — the installation, which takes over the shop's entire fifth floor, included eight shopping stations customized by Gaga and her team. Fans can browse a jewelry nook, a bookstore, and a boudoir that sell over 170 limited-edition Gaga-themed products as well as some of her favorite items from childhood. The store-within-a-store is open now and will be until Jan. 2, 2012.
The Muppets shut down Hollywood Boulevard in LA yesterday for the world premiere of their new movie. Kermit the Frog was joined by his whole crew — Gonzo, Rolf, Animal, Fozzy, and newcomer Walter — arriving in a Jeep to kick off the green-carpet processional of stars and puppets. Miss Piggy followed closely behind in her own convertible, wearing Jeremy Scott and Louboutins, and blew kisses to the crowd. We talked to Piggy and Kermit about their return to the big screen, and the pair joked that this film brought them closer together.
We also spoke with some of the human stars including Amy Adams and Jason Segel. Jason said it was a dream come true to work with the Muppets and he plans on inviting all of them, including his puppet brother Walter, over for Thanksgiving dinner so they can reenact the landing on Plymouth Rock. Many of Jason's How I Met Your Mother costars also stepped out to support his latest venture including Alyson Hannigan, Josh Radnor, and Neil Patrick Harris, who has a small role in the film. Meanwhile, Amy spoke with us about the importance of making family films and working with the ultimate leading man, Kermit — stay tuned for more of our interviews with the cast in PopSugar Rush!
Ready or not, your holiday season is going to include a big helping of Harold & Kumar — in 3D, no less. John Cho and Kal Penn are returning for their third film together (the first being the cult hit Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle), and this time they're trying to save Christmas. I was ready to write off A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas when Escape From Guantanamo Bay left me feeling listless, but that was until I saw the first photo from the new film. I don't know why, but the kid in me couldn't help feeling giddy about seeing Penn and Cho all dressed up as toy soldiers (with help from series staple Neil Patrick Harris).
Though there's never been anything wholesome about these two, I'm thinking a Christmas movie has to have a little more heart than a layover in Gitmo. The premise sounds like it's in the spirit of Christmas Vacation (translation: Santa Claus is coming to town and everything keeps going wrong), so I might just have to give it a chance. What's your take on the new film?
Jon Hamm, Courteney Cox, and More Small-Screen Stars Step Out For the Critics' Choice Television Awards
Some of TV's most popular actors made appearances at today's inaugural Critics' Choice Television Awards. The festivities were held at the Beverly Hills Hotel to honor shows across categories that included reality, comedy, and drama. Cougar Town stars Courteney Cox and Busy Philipps were both on hand for the luncheon, and cable series were also well represented, with Sam Trammell attending ahead of True Blood's season four premiere on June 26. Jon Hamm and Christina Hendricks from Mad Men were also there, and she picked up the very first honor of the afternoon, splitting the award for best supporting actress in a drama series with Justified actor Margo Martindale. Jon followed suit shortly after when when he was announced as the winner of best lead actor in a drama series. Fans of the show have a while longer to wait before Don Draper and his cohorts return to TV. New episodes are expected to be absent from the airwaves until March of 2012, though filming resumes next month.
