What we wouldn't give to get dressed in Lea Michele's closet! When deciding what to wear to L'Oréal Paris's Women of Worth event last night, the star chose a dress from one of the most opulent collections of the season. The star stepped onto the red carpet in an embellished lace dress by Dolce & Gabbana — whose Autumn collection became an instant hit due to its highly decorated wares and bejewelled headpieces. What better way to make a regal, dramatic, and above all, stylish statement on the red carpet?
Lea Michele is slowly starting to open up about the recent and unexpected passing of her boyfriend and Glee costar, Cory Monteith. In the December issue of Elle, which hits newsstands on Nov. 19, Lea reveals her current mental state and how she hopes that she can use Cory's death to help other people in similar situations. “I never thought I would be in this position in my whole life," Lea said. "Now that I am in this position, you can choose to rise, and that’s what I’m going to try to do. I know that Cory would want nothing more than for me to take this situation and use it to help people.” She added, “It’s very hard. And you have to be very strong to come out of this alive, but I think by doing the best for myself, by showing that you don’t have to lose yourself, maybe someone else will feel some sort of strength or comfort.”
While Lea is hoping to comfort others with her resilience, she also revealed that she got help from an unexpected source in the days following Cory's death. Glee guest star Kate Hudson opened up her LA home to Lea and her family so that she could avoid the media that had gathered outside of her own home. Lea said, “I called [Kate] and said, ‘I don’t know where I’m going to go because my house is swarmed [with reporters].’ She was like, ‘Oh, you’re going to stay at my house.’ Like it was nothing. No one knew I was there. I’ll never really be able to thank her, truly, for what she did for me.”
Victoria Beckham, Lea Michele, and Lena Dunham put their most fashionable feet forward when they attended an event for CFDA and the Vogue Fashion Fund in LA yesterday. Lea, who took a quick break from filming Glee season 5 to attend the event, wore a Calvin Klein frock and chatted with friend Lily Collins at the event. Meanwhile, Lena mingled with Anna Wintour, furthering speculation that Lena may cover Vogue in the near future. Other guests included Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson, who may have gotten a moment to gush with Lena as the Girls creator revealed on Twitter yesterday that she's excited to see Jamie Dornan play Christian Grey. "I'm a monstrous Jamie Dornan fan," Lena tweeted after it was revealed that the actor would replace Charlie Hunnam in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, "Wasn't allowed to be attracted to him on The Fall because he played a sex murderer. Fifty Shades of Grey is my big chance!"
Two of Glee's leading ladies showed off their style last night at two very different fashionable events in the US. In New York, Dianna Agron attended the Whitney Museum of American Art Gala & Studio Party. The event was supported by Louis Vuitton, so it's no surprise that Dianna chose to wear the designer, opting for a '30s-style dress with flutter sleeves in classic black. Meanwhile, her former flatmate and costar Lea Michele was in LA for the CFDA and Vogue Fashion Fund Event. She tweeted that she was "having another Calvin Klein moment" (following her Women in Hollywood appearance), choosing a strapless white jumpsuit and black strappy heels. The monochrome looks couldn't be more different, except for the fact that both ladies opted for a pop of pale blue to finish the look; Lea with a chunky necklace, Dianna with dramatic pastel eyeshadow. Whose look do you love?
Some of the most powerful women in Hollywood stepped out for a celebration of sisterhood last night when they attended the 2013 Elle Women in Hollywood Awards in LA. Honorees included Reese Witherspoon, Marion Cotillard, Melissa McCarthy, Naomie Harris, and Shailene Woodley, who also appeared together in Elle's November Hollywood issue, which hit newsstands earlier this month. There were plenty of stars who turned out to support their Hollywood peers, including Chelsea Handler, who hung out with Reese and Whitney Cummings, and Lea Michele, who went without her "Cory" necklace while walking the red carpet.
Monday night was a big one for Hollywood as the annual Hollywood Film Awards also took place in Beverly Hills.
Lea Michele turns 27 today! Summer is almost here, which means it's officially beach wave season. But if you're not lounging on a sand dune somewhere, faking those beachy waves, like Lea Michele's tousled texture, can be daunting. But there are three easy ways to fake them, and all you've got to do is wash your hair, add a little product, pick your technique, and fall asleep:
After working a leave-in conditioner through your hair, blow-dry it until it's about 80 percent dry. Then, douse your hair in a beach spray, like Alterna Bamboo Beach Texturizing Spray (£15). Muss up your hair a bit with your fingers, divide it into two sections, plait, and fall asleep. When you wake up in the morning, fluff your hair with your fingers to add volume.
Follow the same steps as the plaits above, but instead of plating your hair, twist it away from your face in two sections. Then take the twists and fold them over the top of your head like milkmaid plaits for easy sleeping. When you wake up in the morning, simply run your hands through your hair and spritz on some hair spray, like Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray (£12.50), for shine and hold.
If you've got longer hair, opt for a lightweight mousse like Shu Uemura Kaze Wave (£16.75). Dry your hair halfway and then scrunch the mousse into your strands. Flip your head over and twist your hair into a high topknot, making sure it isn't pulled too taught around your scalp. Secure with a hair tie and pins. In the morning, take your hair down and reinforce some of the waves with your fingers or a curling iron for extra hold.
The 12th annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball on Saturday in LA brought out plenty of stars in support of the organization's cause. Rebecca Gayheart acted as cochair for the event, which raised funds to help homeless and low-income individuals find employment, and she had husband Eric Dane on hand for support. New Girl's Max Greenfield acted as the evening's host, while Colin Farrell, Chris Pine, and Ali Larter watched in the audience. It was an especially big night for Cory Monteith and Lea Michele, though, since it was Cory's return to the red carpet following his stint in rehab, which ended in April. He and Lea have been out and about since then, catching a Canucks game and even taking a vacation to Mexico in May, but the event marked his first official public appearance.
The 2013 upfront presentations have taken over Los Angeles this week, and they've provided the perfect opportunity for stars to show off their stellar red carpet style. At last night's Fox party, Minka Kelly paired a green printed, one-shoulder dress with black ankle-strap sandals, while Lea Michele looked bright in a pink, floral Lela Rose dress with silver metallic pumps. Zooey Deschanel proved the most covered up in a black circle skirt topped with a black sequined jacket, and her New Girl costar Hannah Simone was ladylike in a black dress with a vibrant garden print. Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, and Jane Lynch were joined by their Glee cast members to honor Ryan Murphy as he received the PaleyFest Icon Award in LA last night. Lea wore a sheer black Vivienne Tam dress while her boyfriend, Cory, went for a simple suit at the event. The Glee cast weren't the only stars from Ryan's shows to attend the shindig — Leslie Bibb, Carly Pope, and Leslie Grossman from Ryan's first show, Popular, walked the red carpet along with Andrew Rannells and Justin Bartha from The New Normal. Many of the stars of Ryan's shows have grown close with the prolific TV creator, and Andrew, Naya Rivera, and Darren Criss even did some impressions of Ryan Murphy on the red carpet for the Associated Press. After the award ceremony, Lea tweeted, "A beautiful night honoring the amazing Ryan Murphy. So happy for him. What a joy to be in such an amazing room with such incredible people."
