Making a major entrance in a caped velvet Naeem Khan gown, the Goodwill Ambassador's gold ornamentation and deep burgundy tone definitely put us in the spirit. Later, the singer took the stage and gave us a chill in Michael Kors's silver embroidered gown and icy Lorraine Schwartz jewels. The looks, while very different, had us thinking forward to our festive party looks and feeling very inspired. 'Tis definitely the season, Katy!
The 2013 American Music Awards took over Nokia Theatre in LA on Sunday night, and there were plenty of must-see moments! Host Pitbull kicked off the night by giving audience members a lesson in booty-shaking dance moves with the help of a group of female dancers. Justin Timberlake took home the first award of the night for favorite pop/rock male artist, and he celebrated by running through the audience to dole out high-fives. He later grabbed two more honors. Meanwhile, Katy Perry channeled her inner geisha for a Japan-inspired performance of "Unconditionally" while the boys from One Direction got serious for their soulful new song "Story of My Life." Miley Cyrus confused some by singing "Wrecking Ball" accompanied by a digital cat, and Rihanna picked up a big honor, the icon award, from her mom. So much more went down, including Lady Gaga and R. Kelly's political performance and Taylor Swift's big artist of the year win — click through to see all the action!
The MTV Europe Music Awards celebrated its 20th anniversary at the cutting-edge Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on Sunday. Stars like Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande, and the night's emcee, Redfoo, hit the red carpet for what proved to be an exciting show. Presenters Iggy Azalea and Ellie Goulding both arrived in showstopping gowns, while the boys from Kings of Leon, who performed during the ceremony, were joined on the red carpet by none other than Ron Burgundy (aka Will Ferrell). Will, as Ron, presented the global icon award to Eminem backstage. The rapper thanked his fans for all their support over the years and gave a nod to Anchorman by saying, "I love award."
Miley Cyrus popped up in a risqué ensemble on the red carpet before opening the show with a space-age performance of her hit single "We Can't Stop." She changed into a skintight white leotard for a heartfelt rendition of "Wrecking Ball" before accepting the best video award for the song and smoking a joint on stage. Also making a quick change during the night was Katy Perry, who went for the pop princess look in a satin Zac Posen gown before taking flight in a bejeweled jumpsuit, while Bruno turned the EMAs stage into a strip club — the "Gorilla" singer reenacted the song's racy music video for his set.
She's done it again! Miley Cyrus stunned the crowd when she arrived to the MTV Europe Music Awards wearing a statement-making printed lace-up minidress with a plunging neckline. Silver arm candy, layered necklaces — not to mention those eye-catching thigh-high peep-toe boots — put the finishing touches on her sexy look. But Miley wasn't the only star to turn up. Katy Perry brought retro glamour in her seafoam Zac Posen dress, which she delicately paired with platform sandals, and Rita Ora had a Marilyn moment in a slinky and sexy black dress with a slit up to there. So what do you think — was Miley outdone? Or does her red carpet look reign supreme?
Katy Perry channeled Sandra Bullock in Gravity at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Amsterdam on Sunday, flying high above the audience during a performance of her hit "Unconditionally." The singer pulled the quick change of the night to don her flight suit, shortly after she roared onto the black carpet, where she signed autographs and snapped pics with fans. The songstress was without her boyfriend John Mayer at the event, but still played the part of pop princess in an elegant, satin mint-green dress by Zac Posen for her big night. Katy went on to win the best female award, one of two categories in which she was nominated.
Katy promoted her new album, Prism, in Japan last week before heading to Amsterdam to prepare for the EMAs. The singer enjoyed a shopping excursion during a break from her busy pre-EMAs schedule on Saturday, but she is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Katy is gearing up to take her massive hits on the road in early 2014, telling Entertainment Weekly that fans can expect a more mature and "less cartoony" show on her upcoming tour.
Here's something you may not have known — back in what looks like 2008, Robert Pattinson and Katy Perry sang karaoke together to Boyz II Men's classic hit "I'll Make Love to You." There's not much to add to this video, other than the fact that both of the stars look like they're having fun, and the "artsy" editing job only adds to the hilariousness of the performances. Watch the video above to see how Rob and Katy fare as karaoke partners.
Katy Perry is known for her bold beauty looks, theatrical ensembles, and chart-topping beats, but each year brings a more mature Katy — and with that, a more refined style. From satin skater dresses and shiny tights to ethereal designer gowns and decadent accessories, the pop princess has had quite the red carpet transformation. While her style has taken a more sophisticated turn, Katy would never completely abandon her signature whimsy, showcasing the perfect balance of fantasy and finesse in her latest looks.
Today marks Ms. Perry's 29th birthday, and we are celebrating with a red carpet retrospective. Whether you're a self-proclaimed "Katy Cat" or a Perry rookie, everyone can appreciate the playful, polished, and downright prodigious creations Katy has donned through the years. It's safe to say that Katy Perry's having a '90s moment. Her obsession with Baby Spice pigtails shows no signs of stopping, and last night for an appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, she ramped up the '90s look with a series of key trends from her childhood. First up came her top, a style fresh off the House of Holland Spring 2014 catwalk that nodded towards Baz Luhrmann's 1997 film Romeo + Juliet with its bold religious imagery. Then came the over-the-knee socks, which were Clueless all the way. Finally, the black leather skirt and buckled biker boots paid homage to 1996's The Craft, a film that Katy and her stylist Johnny Wujek have referenced many times before. The question is, can she pull off this retro look, or should these '90s trends be left in embarrassing yearbooks past?
When it comes to her eccentric hair and makeup looks, Katy Perry is always keeping us on our toes, and at the iTunes Festival, she tried out a primary school favourite: pigtails. Her look was a mashup of Baby Spice's signature hairstyle with Scary Spice's love of vampy lipstick. We understand this half-up hairstyle might keep hair out of Katy's face during high-energy performances, but do you think her hair is super cute or just plain childish?
Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, and Miranda Kerr all took a break from the fashion presentations at Paris Fashion Week last night to attend a special screening of Carine Roitfeld's new film, Mademoiselle C. Kim left Kanye West at home to attend the bash on the arm of Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci. Meanwhile, Katy Perry was also flying solo at the bash, but she made plenty of friends at the screening's afterparty, chatting with Ciara, Carine, and Fashion Week fixture Anna Dello Russo. Miranda looked like she enjoyed herself at the afterparty as well, mixing around with fellow models Lily Donaldson and Cara Delevingne, whom she walked with at both the Stella McCartney show and the Chanel presentation this week.
Kim has been taking Paris Fashion Week by storm after arriving in the City of Light over the weekend with Kanye. Paris has been very welcoming to the couple, as Kim took to Instagram to show off the new baby presents for North West that she was gifted by various top designers.
