Who can forget the crazy success of Juicy Couture, the brand that made writings on your terry-clothed backside so popular? Needless to say, Juicy has branched out since then and has turned into a chic operation offering up cool and fun options for everyday. Now, founders Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor, who have since sold the brand to Liz Claiborne Inc., are ready to start a new line, called Skaist-Taylor. The new collection, which Skaist-Levy describes as, "A collection of things that we’re obsessed with and we want to own,” is set to launch in February and will be sold for the Fall '12 season.Details are under wraps, but we do know that the collection is set to focus on color and will include tees, outerwear, pants and luxurious knits. “We’re creating pieces that we feel are standouts and that you have to have,” said Skaist-Levy. “Amazing outerwear and incredible basics; that’s how we dress.” Prices will range from $175 to $3,000 — are you excited to see the new collection?
I love Juicy Couture, but something is up with this dress. The photo on the right was taken in the Summer of 2006 of my friend wearing the beige H&M version. I know it quite well because we both bought the dress together, and it's so comfortable and easy to wear that five years later, I still keep it on rotation. I also remember that it cost less than 50 quid, but can't exactly recall the amount.
You can imagine my surprise when I saw a remake in Harrods recently. This version, the Pleated Dress, costs £150 and comes in grey and a bright-pink shade called rouge. I typically see the more expensive brand being replicated not vice-versa. What do you think is the story behind this dress?
This season, one of our favorite silhouettes is the maxi. So, when we spied some Fab celebs stepping out for red carpets and parties wearing amazing styles, we had a thought — why should they have all the fun? On that note, we've picked five of our favorites to inspire five fresh maxi styles. From Dree Hemingway's spot-on '70s take to Brooklyn Decker's all-out femme, click through to shop the looks we're crushing on.
Pixie was attending the Juicy Couture party in Mayfair sporting a black satin mini dress and platinum updo.
She looked great! I loved the winged eye makeup and the 1960s style bouffant looked fabulous, although the style press have picked up on her fake tan which appears to be a shade or two darker than her usual natural glow.
Personally, I still thought she looked good. I know I've been guilty of sloshing on fake tan over-enthusiastically before! (Especially when holding on the the remnants of a Summer holiday.)
What do you think of Pixie's tan?
There's something very romantic about solid fragrances. Not only is the scent quality better, they seem to linger on your skin much longer than the usual spray versions. They're also great for traveling with as they're more compact. This Spring, beauty companies have taken it up a notch introducing delicious solid fragrances packaged in beautiful compacts, as trinkets, bracelets and pendants. AKA Super-cute accessories that also make you smell great. How fabulous is that? Click through this slideshow to see my favourite examples.
Kate Moss was enjoying the country life this weekend as she spent time at her Cotswolds home. She headed to the pub yesterday with boyfriend Jamie Hince and Kate was well prepared for the winter weather in a thick fur coat. She revealed a bit of leg but kept her feet warm in ankle boots with knee high socks. Last week Kate signed a three year deal with Topshop before shooting for her next collection with Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot. See below to copy Kate's country style.
Celebrity Style: Eva Mendes: Eva Mendes was out and about looking lemony fresh in her dotted Juicy Couture minidress. I love how she looks just as pulled together in an easy going minidress as she does in jeans and a tailored jacket. She went the extremely casual route with some leather flip flops but strappier flat sandals add that extra oomph for all you Fabionistas.
