Hello Halston Glamour! It looks like we're in for a dose of long luscious blow-drys soon if the catwalks are anything to go by. Yesterday Giorgio Armani unleashed a slew of sultry blondes, with 1970's style fringe flicks at his Paris Armani Prive couture show. He follows Chloe designer Hannah Macgibbon who worked a similar vibe with free flowing tresses at her February runway outing. At the same round, Gucci continued its sexed up vibe with disco glamour blow-dry looks. The style is usually pared with nude lips and worn blonde, which works fabulously when paired with Camel clothing (perfect for all the Camel polo necks that are around this season.) Are you a fan?
Riccardo Tisci Takes Givenchy Intimate for Autumn 2010 Couture Riccardo Tisci transitioned from full-on runway to intimate presentation for his Autumn 2010 couture collection, shown yesterday in a gilded Paris apartment — only ten looks' worth, as opposed to 23 looks last couture season. Madonna is back for Dolce and Gabbana this Autumn as she stars in the black and white ad campaign. The Queen of Pop is going back to her Italian roots for the adverts which reportedly represent a "playful, cinematic take on Italian family". The Spring campaign showed Madonna in a domestic situation, but these seem more personal some how. Are you happy to see Madonna representing Dolce and Gabbana again, or would you like to see a new face?
Victoria Beckham landed back in the UK yesterday after celebrating her 11th wedding anniversary in the South of France with her family. Victoria looked a little worse for wear when she got on the plane, but looked much more refreshed in London. I love seeing her wearing casual frocks like this one by her designer pal Marc Jacobs. The bow print dress (£163) is currently in the sale reduced from £324. Get yours now before they sell out!
Dannii Minogue Gives Birth To a Baby Boy! Congratulations to Dannii Minogue and Kris Smith, who reportedly became the proud parents of a baby boy on Monday! Dannii and Kris announced the pregnancy back in January, and have been spending time in Australia as they awaited the arrival of their son. PopSugar UK has more.
Couture week continued yesterday in Paris with shows from Givenchy, Armani Prive and Chanel. Karl Lagerfeld regularly transforms the Grand Palais and this time he did so with an enormous gold lion resting on a giant pearl. Karl said he was inspired by a bronze lion he found in Coco Chanel's apartment. The collection remained true to Chanel with classic suits (slightly shorter this season), however the Autumn pret a porter collection was present in the fur cuffs and the gorgeous coats.
The lion theme was present throughout with statement belts and gold slouchy boots which were similar to the lion's mane. Tiers were a key part of the line with peplum dresses, and short bolero jacket worn over long dresses. Perhaps the key talking part will be the lions mask worn by the groom at the end. It's this fine line between genius and ridiculous that keeps Chanel interesting.
I've heard of eyeshadows making your eyes 'pop' but lipsticks that make your teeth brighter? That's new!! Clinique just unveiled its latest capsule range of lip shades (£14.50) which have been formulated specifically to make teeth appear instantly brighter.
The company said it carried out extensive clinical testing to find specific hues of lipstick that contrast to teeth in a certain way, making them paler. They promise a whole shade brighter, in fact!
The lipsticks go on sale this month and I managed to snag a couple of samples. I have to say as lipsticks alone, they're pretty great. There are eleven shades in the range, from violet to nude to red, so there's something for everyone. Each is fragrance free with in-built SPF 15.
I've yet to tell if there's a specific impact, although I would say that picking the right lipstick in general can make teeth and skin appear brighter. The one which worked best for me from this collection was After Party, a purple-infused red. Delish! The colour was beautiful and strong and friends say it did make a difference. Do you have a favourite lip colour?
